Spare Paper Supplies (please take them off my hands!)

Hello! When my old flatmate moved out she left behind a tote bag of paper supplies: some A3 biscuit-coloured paper from Ecocraft, recycled A4 kraft paper, ruled and hole-punched printer paper, some grey crafting card from Hobbycraft and some of that paper you can chalk onto and rub off. Everything’s been opened and I’m not sure of exact quantities, but it’s all just sitting there and has done for absolutely ages (I’m not sure if it belonged to my old flatmate or HER old flatmate from yonks ago!).

I’m not a paper crafter so I was going to take them to the charity shop until I remembered this lovely forum. If anyone’s interested in any of the above, I can share photos - everything is in its original packaging I believe, just opened. I’m not looking to make any money whatsoever, just want to send as much of it as possible to a good home. So if you’d like anything and you’re happy to pay postage, pop a message here and we can work something out! I’m happy to make a Folksy listing for you (price of postage plus Folksy fees) or use PayPal (price of postage plus PayPal fees) to keep it all above board.

If no one’s interested it can all go to the charity shop, but I figured you guys might actually use some of this stuff regularly and appreciate it.

Thats a really good idea @francescaswords I too have a lot of stuff I would be happy to give away and just charge postage and fees so that I am not out of pocket. I will give it some thought and pop back when I have time to take photographs.

@Folksyadmin hi Folksy, this has got me thinking… thought I would check with you, would we be ok to list items for other folksy sellers that would be free of charge with a cost for postage added. ?

I think you have to put a minimum charge of 20p Debby

Hi Sue, thank you that’s great to know, I will get decluttering, I have a light box that I tried once and it’s just taking up space, also some books.

Sooo tempted by the paper - I love eco products, but I don’t have a use for it, so I would just be swopping your stash mountain for mine . I’m sure someone who works with paper will snap it up though.

I might be interested in the light box Debby @Bearlescent

Generally speaking - it would be good to have an ongoing thread on here about destash that we are happy to sell to other shop owners at “fees and postage” - plus mimimum listing cost if put through Folksy (assuming admin confirm ok).

In terms of using Folksy listings - I’m assuming they would be private/custom ones after an agreement has been reached - rather than an open listing that anyone can buy?

If people are thinking of de-stashing a number of items this way, just be aware that “sales” put through any platforms that you use for your business will be included in your annual sales income for tax purposes. As these are “minimal charge”, the income will mostly be netted off by the costs (fees and postage etc) but I suggest you note them in your records and double check at the end of the year.

I’m in the same boat, I was donated lots of art supplies but haven’t done any art for a while so it’s just sat there looking at me . One other thing springs to mind our local primary school are often asking for paper supplies for the children to use for art. So if you have a primary school near maybe they could use

A friend actually took everything except the graph paper off my hands yesterday so I’ve got way less today than I did yesterday when I went through everything and thought ‘I am never using this HELP.’

A destash thread would be fab! I’m also mindful of business costs, taxes and everything if items are sold via Folksy, which is why I suggested PayPal too… I’m in a clothes swap Facebook group and the rules are everything has to go via PayPal and not via the ‘pay friends and family’ so everyone is protected. Could that work here?

@kimfolksy is this something we can do on here Kim? And if so are we ok to list as Sue mentioned above with minimum listing fee and just postage costs.
@TheOldButton that’s great, I’m in middle of moving rooms around, when it’s sorted I will take a couple of pics or send the model number if I can find it, think it would have to go medium parcel as it might be too wide for small but you are very welcome to have it as it’s just collecting dust.
We would have to make a listing as reserved for X, not as a listing for sale as we normally do, bit like listing a custom order, either that or share on the forum/messages and sort without going via Folksy.

Id be ok with that, I think it’s a brilliant idea actually, being eco minded Id love to think that some of my unwanted supplies might get a new lease of life and vice versa.

Thanks Debby :slightly_smiling_face:

@Bearlescent Yes, you can list craft supplies on Folksy, they just have to be listed under the ‘commercial craft supplies’ category. As mentioned above, you do need to at least have a minimal fee on the items though.

Hi @Kimfolksy, thank you Kim, that’s great and you have just reminded me to check the lightbox ! When i get some spare time (I know that’s funny :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:).. ok when I make some time I will pop some bits on, I do need to declutter.
