Summer Exhibition

Well done Team Folky, love this Exhibition - a brilliant way to showcase the diversity and talent that is Folksy, in an interesting and accessible way.
Looking forward to the fringe (great name) even more, as I have a piece in that

I’m glad you asked that question, I thought it was me not being able to spot the link!

Thanks so much for choosing a piece of my artwork for this exhibition. :purple_heart: I am really happy to be included. I love this idea, as I have discovered more clever crafters with such beautiful items for sale.

Agree so many lovely creations from shops I hadn’t seen before and it made my day to find out I’m in the fringe!

I would see the Fringe as the second exhibition. No heirarchy. It will be another wave of great talent, including you. X

Of course, being included, I just LOVE the summer exhibition and congratulations to those included and also to those who will be on the fringe.
Maybe because I am non technical, can I make a comment please?.
On the front page of Folksy is a lovely graphic for the Exhibition but it took me a while to register that you could actually click on the picture to view the contents.
I wonder how many other people didn’t realise that you could click on it.
Would it not be possible to add a button ā€œclick here to viewā€?
I just feel that a lot of non shop owners ( visitors) might not realise that they could view by clicking on the picture?.

Its not just you Brenda, I thought exactly the same thing.
Its Lovely but I think some non Folksy visitors will not realise its a clickable link.
Perhaps an enter the gallery button would help☺

@JOYSofGLASS yes feeling the same, especially as I have only been here 2 weeks. I guess we will see on Monday. The Exhibition is such high quality it does feel like a bit like I have been relegated

I am happy about being included in the fringe but do feel all the entries could have been included in say 3 exhibitions over three months. This would have given all shops a little boost which is much needed at the moment and give a broader spectrum of all that folksy offers.

thanks so much for including me. I have recently re-opened my shop on Folksy so to get this spotlight has been amazing

Just to let you all know the Folksy Fringe will go live later today. We’ll share a link here when it’s up. There are some amazing pieces in there, and we hope you’re all going to enjoy it as much as the Summer Exhibition.

I’m very sorry to hear some of you not included in the exhibition feel relegated to the Fringe. That wasn’t the intention at all. We hadn’t originally planned on running a Fringe event, but the quality of the entries was so high and, as we couldn’t include everything in the Exhibition, we wanted to find a way to showcase more - so we had the idea of the Fringe. Having seen both, I love each event.

There are some incredible pieces in the Fringe that for various reasons didn’t feel quite right for an exhibition. In some cases it was because the pieces are more commercial products, or the photos weren’t quite high quality enough (or felt more like product shots if that makes sense). However, there were so many fantastic pieces that deserve to be seen, and which we felt it would be a shame not to highlight - and which make the Fringe really interesting too.

I think the whole exhibition idea is brilliant. Now that the criteria for selection and what sort of images you were looking for is a bit clearer I predict you will need a Fringe
Extra as well next year!
Actually one solution might be to just have a single Exhibition but 'rehang ’ each week to show a new selection. That way both buyers and sellers dont get confused why there are two shows and it would encourage buyers to visit more than once to see a new selection.

Excellent idea. :grin::grin::grin:

I think the fringe exhibition makes a lot of sense and I’m looking forward to seeing it - it gives everyone more chance for exposure and, as an added bonus, has that edgy feel to it like you never know what quirky items you might find.

Perhaps we could have two exhibitions a year if it isn’t too much work? Summer and Winter shows to spread the exposure.

I was delighted to be selected for the Fringe (although I am assuming not ALL of the remaining 570 entrants have also been selected) and I’m eagerly waiting to see everything when it goes live. The exhibition looked lovely though I did wonder if there was a way items could be rotated as I’m not sure many would scroll all the way down and see everything. What a lot of talented crafters there are on Folksy!

Im so proud to be part of the summer exhibition and its driving lots if interest to my shop. Unfortunately i was rushed into hospital on 3rd august. I put my shop into holiday mode. Im hoping to be home on thursday and im thinking of opening my shop with extended postage times. My husband will do all the packing and posting.

What do you lovely folk think? Is it easy to extend delivery times without going into each listing.
