Summer Exhibition

Hi all! The Folksy Fringe is now live. We hope you all love it! Here’s the link https://folksy.com/themes/folksy-fringe and you can also get to it from the homepage.

We’ll send out an email tomorrow with templates and graphics you can use to tell people that you’ve been included.

In the meantime, if you previously received an email telling you that your work had been chosen for the Fringe but you can’t see it in there, can you let me know as certain pieces have sold out since we first started putting it together?!

There are also a few instances where the piece submitted isn’t the one that’s been selected. In those cases it might be that we loved the submitted piece but couldn’t find it in your shop so have chosen something similar instead, or that there was a piece/photo that worked better.

Thank you @folksycontent for including my bear in the Fringe, what a fabulous selection of pieces, i will be having a closer look again later. I am a little confused as the bear Folksy have chosen isn’t one of the 3 I submitted, or not that I was aware of… could I have added the wrong link? not sure but he is very happy to be there anyway.

Hi Debby! I’ve just edited my original comment to explain that there are some instances where we have chosen a different piece to the one submitted. In your case we were going to include one of the bears you entered but then saw Bumblehog in the tree and couldn’t resist! I hope that’s ok.

Just a quick question Camilla @folksycontent - I’m pretty sure in the original email, or maybe on here, you said the order of the exhibition was going mixed up on a regular basis to ensure those at the bottom get a slot at the top at some point. I notice this hasn’t happened yet - is it in the pipeline?

HI Camilla.

Aw thank you that’s really kind, I was a little confused but that explains it fine.
I usually just photograph using whiteboards with a fleece over but this bear escaped to climb a tree and I loved the end result.
I wasn’t sure on the type of photograph required, browsing the exhibition and fringe may help me think about how I can improve my photographs in the future. The first thing that struck me in the main exhibition was how amazing the photography was on the pieces chosen.

Thank you for contacting me.

Best wishes
Debby

I’m happy to have been chosen for the fringe out of so many entries. Congratulations to all those who made it to either (or both) sections.

I’m interested in the difference in format - was there a reason why Exhibition images have a link to the shop, but Fringe images are of one item in the shop?

Indeed she does. :grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:

I entered two brooches and a glasses case and found this bolster cover from my shop had made it into The Fringe instead!

I don’t mind that folksy chose something else to display for me and am delighted to be featured in The Fringe Exhibition. Thank you @folksycontent and all others who have put this collection together!

Whilst I am pleased and grateful to have been included in the Fringe and do not want to take the shine off for anybody else, I have to say the format does have a second tier feel to it, just a rehashed ‘gift guide’ linking straight back to the item for sale in the shop (the reason for all of the items that weren’t actually entered?) and lacking the gloss and polish of the exhibition itself. Disappointing.

Thank you for including my water lily, it is one of my favourite pieces (and I have sold 6 of them here on Folksy (all different of course  ).
I notice the shop name is not showing under the photos as it does in all the other gift guides…and is a really helpful thing I am sure for customers to know what they are looking at and whether to click or not.
I appreciate that this is only my mobile view but at least 60% of my visitors are from mobile phones.
Could you add this please

Hi Camilla, I was told I’d had a piece selected for the Fringe but I can’t see it! I also haven’t received an email with any graphics or templates to post. Can you look it into this please?

Hi Silvana @SilvanaJewellery. You should definitely have been in there as I know we chose your incredible lizard brooch. But I checked and for some reason it wasn’t showing up. It should be there now! And we’ve just sent out the email with the templates

Congratulations to everyone included in the fringe - it’s a super range of work and a great display of talent (and I’m thrilled to be there too in such amazing company!). I think we all deserve a pat on the back.

Thanks Camilla, I can see me now! I still don’t quite get it as in the original specifications for entry, it said the work submitted didn’t have to be available for sale and yes, none of my three were. So I could’ve chosen something myself from the existing shop if I’d known. Does that make sense?

I’m really liking both the exhibitions. The main exhibition has a proper “arty” gallery feel about it. The Fringe is like a high end retailer with carefully chosen items, which feels more commercial - in a good way. In no way is it inferior to the main exhibition. I predict The Fringe will lead to some sales for people. Fingers crossed
