Can we please have your suggestions for April’s themes of the day?
Remember we’re aiming for themes that will already have some items tagged (we don’t want to risk an empty theme!), but aren’t so vague they’ve got 10,000+ results.
We also try to avoid repeating themes that have already been used in the past few months.

To have your item included in a theme, simply add the tag for that day to your listing, exactly as written in this list. For example if you have an item you think would be great for Gifts for Easter, add the tag ‘easter gift’ to the listing. If you just have the tag ‘easter gifts’, the item won’t be included in the theme as this isn’t an exact match.
Please remember to only use the tag on items that are relevant to the tag.
For My Favourite Piece on 16th April please choose just ONE item you’re particularly proud of or want to show off this month.
@kimfolksy Nice list! Would I be OK to add the tag ‘teapot’ to a couple of my teaspoons for 21 April even though they are manifestly not teapots? Or does the item need to be a teapot or a tea cosy?
Thank you! I guess National Tea Day is about more than teapots. And judging by the search terms in my shop stats people find my spoons via far more irrelevant tags
I think you can be guided by the name of the theme ie National Tea Day, the tag is just the tag. It was from my list of suggestions, and I was thinking of a wide interpretation which could include anything tea related such as tablecloths, napkins, cups and saucers and certainly teaspoons! @LooneySpoons
If you feel like your item is relevant to the tag, then you can use it.
If you think your item is only relevant to the theme name but not the tag (for example if you would never have considered using the tag on the item if it wasn’t for the theme), it’s best not to use it.
Remember the main purpose of tags is to help buyers find what they’re looking for in search, and we don’t want theme of the day to hinder that.
Sometimes we do select a tag that is more specific than the theme name (particularly when it’s based on a day/event) because the tag brings up a good set of results, which isn’t too small or too big, and the majority of the results go with the name, whicn isn’t always the case when it isn’t as specific.
Think if someone went to search and entered the tag, would it make sense to them why the item was appearing, or would it confuse and frustrate them because there’s no link when the theme name isn’t there?
That’s a good way of looking at it, thanks! I’ve got loads of teaspoons in my shop but have only tagged one thing ‘teapot’ because if I were looking for a teapot I wouldn’t want to see a load of teaspoons in the search results. And I never do remember to go through and un-tag things at the end of the month!
