Theme of the day

Should the TOTD be checked, currently stocking fillers which to me is under £5 maybe up to £10. This is the usual case of tagging every item with the TOTD. Just not cricket.

I expect this post will be flagged and hidden.

I always thought stocking fillers were supposed to be under £10.00 as well and secret santas under £5.00 Caroline @Caroleecrafts

Agree Lynn, that is the point of a stocking filler etc to keep the price low, not sure £150 is a stocking filler unless maybe Royalty.

I’m not sure what the upper price should be given the inflation we have all had to suffer over the last few years, but there are 104 pages of stocking fillers, so the chances of a potential customer trawling through that lot to find your items, are slim to nil!

Maybe the shop owner thinks that now that Royalty know about folksy they will buy their stocking fillers from here.

In all serous I thought that stocking fillers were meant to be a small present that would fit inside a stocking.

It’s not just todays TOTD, been a few this last week or so , that I couldn’t work out the connection was between the iten and that days theme, I honestly can not remember what they were now (in my 7th decade now :flushed:) but some days they are very tenuous links :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
Edit: just remembered one of the Themes, what would you class a ‘Personalised’ would a greeting cards that are blank inside so the customers fills out the greeting before sending it, sorry I not sure if this counts as being sold as ‘Personalised’

Ah, I’m one of them, I’m afraid!! My understanding of a stocking filler is a smallish, lowish value item that fits into a stocking - stocking sizes may vary but generally abiding by the spirit of a stocking as I’ve also been guilty of stocking overflow!!
And Secret Santa values, on the few occasions I’ve done them have always been agreed by the group running the Secret Santa, so again no absolute and defined value but generally not super expensive - which is also vague and subjective.

Unfortunately it is shops just wanting to get their products seen and as not policed they get away with it. Makes the landing page look unprofessional.

I totally agree Caroline, and it happens all the time, and even with items that have no relation to the theme of the day. In this instance it won’t do them any good, as there are now one hundred and six pages worth of Stocking Fillers! And each page has 60 items on, so that is 6,300 items. I honestly think that the theme of the day should be limited to 1 entry per shop, otherwise, as in this instance, it becomes a pointless exercise.

Agree limit the numbers.

Expensive jewellery is a small present that fits inside a stocking, to me that qualifies as a stocking filler.

I don’t think anyone would dispute that Poppy Kay, I think it is more the volume, with some shops uploading vast swathes of their shops. I guess for some it is in desperation as sales on Folksy are so dire at the moment.

I often don’t bother tagging these kind of themes as there are that many items with the tag it isn’t worthwhile. I think the themes are better when they are more item specific although quite often I do wonder how some items relate to the tagged theme of the day. Sometimes though it does become apparent after reading the description.
I think colours are the worst, often there is a tiny fleck of the tag colour in the item which can be very difficult to see.
This post reminded me that I don’t remember adding any tags this month, I will have a look.

I used to take the time to add tags for the theme of the day, but seeing how some people abuse the system, I just don’t bother anymore.

I no longer bother now as you said a waste of time.
