My own Folksy shop figures over those periods are not reflected in the Folksy platform level ones, in fact all three go the other way
Would be interested in other shop / sellers comparisons.
Wonder if I will post something similar to this when I get back from holiday this September ?
It is exciting to hear this - and nice to see Folksy being proactive. One stat that would be interesting to hear about is how many of the sales are new customers and how many of them are repeat? I’ve been a Folksy seller for several years now, and I’m starting to get the same customers coming back again (great news) so this is another area to nurture. Also, what are conversion rates like as a whole? How many people visit the site and leave without making a purchase? If people ‘like’ an item but don’t buy it, are they ever sent an automated follow-up message? Lots of food for thought…
Thanks @folksycontent, it’s really interesting to see what’s been going on behind scenes and of course the statistics you have shared, it all sounds really positive.
Love the shared feature link of Folksy sellers, well done to all who have been featured in magazines, a great achievement. Can I ask do they find you or do you approach them ? I would love to know how many sellers have been approached by magazines on Folksy. Do the Folksy team have any connections with magazines.
I’ve been in a couple.one I think was via Folksy and another just had emailed enquiry about featuring something
Also you can approach your local newspaper. I did and had a telephone interview, I emailed photos over and got a nice half page spread as well as on their online page.
I should clarify. When I mentioned the folksy involvement it was so long ago I can not quite remember how it came about. I think Folksy had been approached about something of mine and asked me to send the publication a better resolution photo. The second was totally independent of Folksy
So neither of my mine was initiated by Folksy and didn’t involve them sending anything.
Update… just checked the Tumblr thingy and found them both by searching for Joysofglass. One was 2017 and the other a few years before but there is no date shown on it.
I would have sent details in to Folksy as we are asked to do
I never though reported I had some glass pieces on TV. One set in a 6 week BBC series Scarborough and more recently more on a Netflix series. Used as window decoration props.
So exciting to watch glued to the screen to spot them
Both were result of phone call from someone working on the show checking I could post out super fast.
Of course I could !.
But worth noting if I hadn’t answered the phone calls ( I know some people let calls go to answerphone so they can vet) and / or not posted same day I would not have had the sales as both were Urgent and suspect things like that always would be.
That’s brilliant to hear Joy and think i remember you mentioning the pieces in the BBC series some time ago, it must have been very exciting for you and I can just picture you glued to the screen to see them pop up…I would be the same and would have recorded it to watch again and showed it to zll my friends and family as well.
I was approached by hochanda TV about my bear making kits, I was really excited and honoured that they wanted me and my work but terrified so turned it down. I also did my sums and couldn’t make it worthwhile so I made the decision not to do it but have often wondered whether I should have taken a gamble with it.
I would love to have my work featured in a magazine like you did or better still on the TV. Who knows who could be looking at our work right now which reminds me when I sold via facebook I had a message from the supposedly Prince Harry…wanting a bear, immediately thought it was a scam so replied saying he would have to wait his turn and I was too busy to oblige…i posted about it on fb and some of my followers asked how I could be sure it was a scam…I said because someone like that would not come to me, have often laughed about it and wondered whether I shouldn’t have been quite so hasty to say no
Really super to hear such positive news on lot’s of aspects of Folksy. I am particularly pleased to hear about the PR agency as brand awareness is so important. Keep up the good work Folksy team and thank you for all you are doing.
Behind the net curtains in the house. They are there but wanted desperately to open those curtains. I have done screen snips somewhere. There were three subcatchers altogether
I always wonder what happens to them afterwards. Do they go into props store or do people take them home
Yes. There was a conservatory thing on the front with nets and my glass was behind them. I kept trying to see the house front from the outside but they wouldn’t move the cameras
