Hello! We thought it would be useful to share an update on how 2021 looked on Folksy. We’re hoping to do this every month during 2022 too - to give you all an idea of how things are looking and what we’re doing.
Some highlights from 2021 - more in the infographic below
The busiest day for sales was 27 November – the first day of the Folky Local online Christmas Market.
Orders generally were down on 2020 (which we largely expected but is still disappointing) but up on 2019.
32% of sales came from Google (or other organic search engines) - showing how important it is to write good listings with descriptive titles.
Traffic from most social media channels was down on 2020 (from everyone’s accounts not just our own) except for TikTok and Instagram Stories - so these could be the ones to watch and start using if you haven’t already!
7% of sales were to Folksy sellers - which shows how amazing and supportive our community is!
The adverts we placed on social media reached 3/4 million people (well over 2 million impressions).
Really interesting, thanks for pulling all this info together and sharing it. Great to see sales were up on 2019 (2020 being a bit of an anomaly year!) Amazing to think that well over 3,000 people sold something on Folksy - what would we all do without you?!
Please can we see how many sales there were overall? The increase from 2019 is great, but I’d also be interested to know by how much it was down on 2020, and how many active shops (i.e. ones with stock) there are on the site.
Thanks so much for this information - it’s really useful to know.
Very interesting about Tik Tok and Instagram stories. I use Instagram quite regularly but never knew if anyone really looked at the stories, now I’m going to pay much more attention to the content I post on them.
Quite surprised to see hanging decorations as the top selling category but very pleased as that is the category that most of my work falls under! Do you think it is the top selling category mainly due to Christmas decorations being listed under it or do customers by a high number of general hanging decorations throughout the year?
Hi Camilla, interesting to see the figures. Can you tell how many active shops there are on Folksy and whether that figure increased dramatically during the covid pandemic, also have many closed now in person selling has resumed.
Would be interesting to see how many new shops open each year.
Thank you for sharing these insights, they are very useful .
Would be nice to know how many strikers are on folksy in total, so we know if the figures is sellers who sold something is good or v good .
Thank you for posting this. I usually do a look at my own stats for the year and previous year comparisons etc, but to see it from another angle coming from Folksy as a whole - its also good to know.
