Video links in listing descriptions?

If Folksy aren’t going to go forwards with offering videos for us to sell our work, can you please consider us being able to post a link to our instagram or YouTube so that potential customers can see our work in action? I’ve just made a spinner, and it’s the type of thing that needs to be seen moving to appreciate it fully. I’ve tried to put a link to the video in my description but it won’t work. So can Folksy please consider this or find a way where we can link to our vids? We can do it here but not much use for customers.

If Folksy did allow off site links, it could be open to abuse, such as ‘Click Here’ to see my other items, which could be a link to another site that must not be mentioned . I’m not saying you would do it, but I suspect there would be some who would. Nice video by the way, could you not put in the description something like ’ Click on my Instagram link to view a video of this item’ or ’ If you would like to see a video of this in motion, click my Instagram link’

I managed to add your link to my test listing in both the description and also the inspiration sections - in neither case was it a clickable link but it could be highlighted and when I select the open in a new tab option it opened to the vid in instagram.

@VioletFlameGlassArt It would be nice if we could add a small video even 7-10 seconds. @SashaGarrett Your way is a good way, i think i will try that on my next listing as In my latest listing i just added that they can view a video of me making the item on my facebook page, if they are interested it is easy enough for them to click the facbook icon at the bottom of the screen, fair enough they may have to search through other videos made after but at least they can then see other work done or product videos too.
Its just a way around it and could also get you a new follower on your socials.

Adding the video feature was actually what I wrote yesterday when I got the pop up box for improving Folksy. While an unclickable link in the description might be a way round it, I am personally very sceptical about including one, for two reasons. One, is that we live in times where we all know we should avoid “unknown” links as there is a lot of scamming etc going around, so I wonder if some people would see it as “fishy” and actually put them off. Second reason and most important to me, is that by asking customers to follow a link, I actually send them away from the listing, towards somewhere (youtube, facebook or elsewhere) where it is very easy to get distracted by similar videos or items that automatically will be shown on their screen. Will they watch & come back, or they will end up “surfing” away I cannot know, but I generally try to lead people from my social media to my shop & not from my shop to my social media.
I do agree though that video feature would be an amazing improvement!

Yes, I guess so. When you consider that 80 percent of sales are potentially increased when you have a video of your work it drives me nuts that Folksy won’t attend to this. Just a 10 second vid. Not a lot to ask for.

That’s great but most people want the path of least resistance when it comes to buying. They can’t be bothered with anything but a quick link click or instant gratification. The same way they lose interest in your website or shop if it’s slow to load, or cumbersome to use.
