As well as Kerria Japonica (the proper name) and Soldier’s buttons, it’s also known as Jew’s Mallow. I love this shrub - I planted one in the garden at our old house and then another one at our current house. Can’t wait to see your lapel pins.
I have no concept of what a “Jew’s Mallow” is. So, unfortunately, I cannot make the imaginative connection. I agree with you that it is a wonderful bush.
Time at the natural history museum in Oxford discovering natural mathematical patterns as inspiration with my 12 year old daughter.
Wow, fabulous photos

My daughter bought me this wire shoe a few years back now. I am fascinated by it but have never found what I could do with it yet. I keep returning to it, keep being inspired yet never reaching a creative solution. (It is adult size three).
Wow great photos
I love that red door. Mmmm.
Well this is certainly inspiring, looking at all these photos! Two in particular have given me the spark of a new idea. If i ever get around to making them - I’ll post a pic here so you can compare them to the original photo (and see how much an idea changes from its original inspiration!!)
This is the most weird, most disturbing thing I have photographed to date. Although the seagull is unperturbed.
Can you believe, someone lives in this. It is their home. It is in Dungeoness - a very, very weird place indeed. Big sorry to anyone living there.
I think there was something similar in America in about the 50’s 60’s called an Airsteam…
This is the spa town of Bath. A must to visit. Anyone interested in tapestries, just outside Bath is the American Museum, this is also a must.
derek jarman used to have a cottage there - he wrote a book about his time there and his garden there is famous.
