Thank you all, after much deliberation, and a weekend finally visiting The Lost Gardens of Heligan, ( well and truly found now) hubby and I decided to grow an apple tree up and over the arch that divides our garden in two, nice sitting in bit and the bike shed and log store bit, sounds very grand, but it is a small mid terrace cottage garden, so in fact very right. Our final choice were King of Pippins, for making French tarts with, and Peasgood Nonsuch, because the name alone deserves a place in the garden.
