Hi Kim, Sent you a private message x
Kim, sent you 2 private messages
If I wasnāt paid up until August, I would seriously be thinking of closing down and retiring. I recently added some new items thinking that would give my shop a boost and I even paid for a Facebook ad that produced no sales. It would probably help if I cut my prices, but Iām not going to!
I have tweeted your lovely Clutch Bag Kimā¦every little bit of promotion helps x
Iāve had 3 sales on here this year and 11 higher priced sales on the dark side, and a few through Facebook.
I prefer folksy, I prefer how friendly it is and I actually prefer shopping here. But is it a case of heart ruling the head? I did list completely different items in each shop but Iāve found myself doubling up a few listing just to just where they sell better.
14 sales on the dark side. Nothing on here but Iām still in my first month as Iām new to Folksy.
The dark side is quieter than usual too but my shop is comparatively low on stock due to Christmas sales, spending time making things for Folksy and generally not feeling very inspired at the moment to design new things. My get up and go has got up and gone!
I do have some exciting new supplies on their way though so maybe thatāll kickstart me into action!
Iāve sold 29 things so far since Jan, but it does seem to have gone a bit quiet the last couple of weeks. I do promote like crazy on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc and that seems to help. Donāt be despondent - Iāve had very quiet periods in the past and then suddenly, out of the blue, sales seem to come from nowhere. Iām sure sales will pick up soon.
I had 6 sales here (only 2 on the dark side) which put me in the best sellers list for a week, but this is quite unusual as normally it is very quiet. Your shop is lovely, donāt give up!
Thank you @TheRibbonQuarter for the tweet, that is very kind of you.
I wonāt give upā¦at the end of the day I love sewing, embroidering etc. and will carry on making. The point of my shop was to give me an outlet for everything I am making as I canāt afford to just give it away!
I have been consoling my self by buying more fabricā¦adding to the already large stash!!..now I need to use it.
I got up this morning to a saleā¦thank you to the lovely Folksy seller who has bought from me.

As lack of sales means no budget for buying more materials I have been setting myself a challenge to try and make up things with what I have in my stash - its making for some fun ideasā¦but what will I do when the stash runs out?!
I am normally the same @OrchardFelts. I use the money from my sales to buy more materialsā¦no sales means no more materialā¦but hubby had to go to a shop last week which is just around the corner from my favourite fabric shop and I couldnāt resist a small purchase to cheer me upā¦pretty fabric just calls to me Iām afraid!!
Congratulations on your sale Kim, wishing you many more in the coming months.
I know what you mean, Roz. I try not to spend any more money but I recently bought some more gift boxes (just in case I ever have another sale!). I may end up having to put them for sale under supplies!
Iāve been doing art and craft all my life, so have a huge stash of stuff of various types in the cupboard. The decision I have to make is āwhich one should I try next?ā. Perhaps I should go back to the illustrations of dancing bunnies and guinea pigs that I did in the 1980sā¦
I have had 7 sales this year and none for a couple of weeks. I donāt think itās any reflection on your shop and I have seen you doing lots of promotion. Every now and then I get fed up but then I try to do things for my own enjoyment - it helps that I am not relying on my shop for my living. I think there are just so many people selling now that itās very hard to be seen and customers have such a lot of choice.
I agree @dikeeblebeadsandjewellery it is very hard to be seen and there are so many sellers now that sales are just not happening as they did a year ago even. Another thing I have noticed is having to compete with very low prices, some are selling very cheaply for handmade goods but I refuse to lower prices when time and effort have gone in to each piece.
My shop has only just reopen. Iāve sold one item. Iād like to sell more, obviously, but my photography is so poor. I am not doing my blankets any justice.
Large items are so difficult to photograph well. I had a couple of blankets a while back - tried to photograph them in situ on a bed but I would have had to clear far too much clutter out of the way to get a reasonable photograph! I find it hard enough with my scarves!
I find this very frustrating @dikeeblebeadsandjewellery. I often look at the price others are selling items similar to mine for and I struggle to understand their pricing. Some appear to sell for less than the materials would cost meā¦unless they buy from charity shops and re use the fabric or are given material I donāt see how they can make any money.
I have thought about reducing my prices but I donāt make a lot of profit as it is so Iām not doing itā¦
Sales here since the start of the year - 0
Sales on the dark side - 14
I list per day on here⦠And I share and network on social media - I try not to list the same things, just in case sodās law, the same thing sells on both sides at the same time!
I am really trying hard to keep positive with Folksy and hope things will pick up soon⦠But I am losing a little bit of hope day by day
My sales here on Folksy this month have been 8 items, only 4 on the dark side. Last month I had more sales on E than here so it has been swings and roundabouts for me really.
