Good to know, thanks Max x
From what I have seen Folksy tends to try to attract sellers with itās off-line promotions, rather than buyers unfotunately.
I remember those days, Susan! Before all the improvements .
You must be a real optimist!
Deluded and quite crazy I would suggest!!
The trouble is folksy donāt have a massive budget for lots of promotion. Things like the weekend of the maker are only good for those who live locally.
I wonder if there is something we could do to promote folksy a bit more. We all promote our own work online on social media, but I wonder if there is something we could do online and locally for folksy as a whole. We live in all parts of the UK so together we could be quite far reaching. Most people I speak to have never heard of folksy.
I think I remember the Tickled Pink campaign had an event where people could have a tea party and raise money and awareness for the charity. It wasnāt an event the charity organised but was something people could do themselves with an event package. What if we could do something similar and make weekend of the maker UK wide. Maybe folksy sellers from each county could co-ordinate and have a craft fair or just a few tables at the local library or just hand out flyers for Folksy, club together for an advert in the local paper? We would need permission to use the folksy logo though.
I donāt know if thatās a daft idea but I know there are a lot of potential buyers out there who have never heard of Folksy but love handmade and craft, especially if itās local. A lot of my friends think I mean ebay when I say I sell online.
Shame they canāt provide us with stickers and cards or leaflets, we could leave them everywhere we go and have a mass takeover! x
I donāt have access to a printer at present so I canāt do any using the logos etc on the blog x
Iād like Folksy to be more engaged on Twitter. I have a couple of Pinterest boards packed with items from loads of Folksy sellers and have tweeted the boards numerous times - the Christmas one was tweeted several times a week for 5 weeks - and only once have Folksy re-tweeted my tweets. Iāve never had them tweet one of my tweets related to one of my items nor have I had a retweet from them of a fellow sellerās tweet land in my feed. basically I donāt feel they share very well and just cocentrate on their own message.
Bekki @bekokodesigns I think local markets are a brilliant idea - it would give us an opportunity to build local links, promote Folksy and ourselves. I think weād need Folksy to kick it off because therās no easy way of finding out whoās based where - but Iād be happy to use my training in arts management/marketing and take a share of the organisation Anyone any suggestions on how weād kick it off ??
I agree with Karen @silvertreejewellerydesign
Plus I tweet them when I have new items but Iāve never ever had a retweet
The Folksy logo is copyright, we do not have permission to reproduce it and use it for promotion.
We can buy their bag and stickers with it on, and we can have it on Moo cards through their collaboration.
But we cant make flyers or tags to hand out at fairs ourselves.
Just thought that I would pop a link on here to the Folksy flyer and postcard designs, which we can use to promote Folksy http://blog.folksy.com/2016/07/08/folksy-blog-badges-banners-printables
Ok thank you. So what would we use the logos etc for?
Thanks Ali x
Sorry ignore me - I see Ali found a link saying we now can use the Folksy designed ones- I forgot about those - we were told so many times over the years that we couldnāt use the logo ourselves to make leaflets, that that stuck with me.
Delighted to report that my February Folksy bill so far this month has just exceeded February last year. Happy bunny (as last several months have been down on same month last year)
