It is three years this week that I opened my Folksy shop for my Art In Wax
This was my first time showing my art work online, since then I have my own website and have had several other outlets online and offline, I have been in featured magazines and even more recently commission to make demonstration videos for a US company working in Encaustic …
Its an amazing journey, which is still going strong and which all started with my shop here … and my first sale to Margaret @Louisa15 … I have had nearly 100 sales here now, and almost twice that many else where with my work is now in homes and properties around the globe, on at least three continents as far as I now … some larger wall art and some miniatures ACEO and Doll house pieces.
Thanks Helen and when I started I never thought I’d sell anything …
As Encaustic (hot wax painting) is not as well known as other painting mediums I wondered if it would sell !!! but my artwork has had an amazing response with lots of new things planned for the future, as I experiment with different types of wax and supports
I’m so pleased to have been your first ever sale Hazel, your work is amazing and looks even better in real life than on screen. Hope you get lots more sales in the future!
Sometimes its good to look back and see how far you have come. This is an inspirational thread for all those new sellers who are just starting out on the journey. I agree here’s to many more!

Rosealind thank you and yes I hope it will encourage others that are just starting out …
People (offline) were skeptical that art would not sell online and yet not just I but many many people here on folksy sell art of many types. It takes hard work but then doesn’t anything worth while
One reason I started making the videos (first one was of a rose and was in 2012 - its has had 34,000 views now) and doing online photo demos was to help spread the word about encaustic and what that is, as lots of people haven’t heard about it at all … and the most popular comment I get is as @Louisa15 Margaret says, at it looks so much better in real life …
Thanks Pam … I would paint even if I didn’t sell any, I’m just hooked on Encaustic, but when one sells its such a buzz … and means I can buy more wax of course
Yes lots of new paintings and projects planned … I do love to experiment and try new things in wax - recently I have been working with deeper layered styles of Encaustic on absorbant supports which is very different to working on the specialist gloss card I mostly use ! It’s very popular in the US to use this style and becoming known about here too
