Hello, I’d love some advice from any one who has experience. Of selling wholesale.
I’ve had an enquiry from a boutique shop about some felt badges that are part of my folksy products. The shop has asked if I do wholesale as they would like to have some for their shop.
I have never done wholesale before! I’m excited to be asked, and have got a clear idea of the pricing etc but am not sure how to reply. If a buyer wants my products for wholesale will they sell them as my designs or incorporate them into their product range? If that’s the case I’m not sure if I’m interested.
Does anyone have any ideas re this… All help gratefully received! Xx
Hello and congrats! Wholesale is a good route to go down as it means cash up front and you get to see your stuff in a b&m shop! Different shops will sell in different ways. If it’s sale or return, shops will generally want a brief summary of who you are, who you do etc, so that customers can read more about you.
Wholesale tends to be different as the shop may not want people to realise they can buy from you elsewhere eg your own website, as they would be wanting that customer to come back to them to buy your stuff again.
That does vary from shop to shop so it’s best to ask the shop owner.
If you can make some sort of branded tag, which doesn’t get removed once it’s been bought by the shop, then that would be a nice way to get your name in front of the ultimate buyer.
Your way forward is probably to have a chat with the owner and see where they are coming from. I can’t see why anyone would have any objections to your stuff still being branded ‘yours’, but it would be interesting to see what they say (and of course others peoples experience).

Thank you so much for your help! I’ve followed your advice, and (hopefully) without sounding like a numpty asked how the boutique works. Very positive answer, they advertise everything as my own designs, and also the same on their fb page. So hopefully I will shortly be taking her order, not only for my brooches but also some cards. Very happy so far! Again, thanks for your help xx
