Any sellers living near Truro?

I don’t know if any other sellers live near Truro. Due to disability I live a life of isolation with my dear husband and dogs making my jewellery by day and knitting in the evening. I love what I do and I never stop!

If anyone near to me would like to meat up for a cuppa and chat please contact me if they work on their own. We could all have a morning or afternoon just chatting and making once a week, every fortnight; or once a month. It could become our local Folksy craft club. I am happy to hold it at my house for up to five people.

Just a thought if others are feeling isolated.

Really sorry you’re feeling this way Gail. Have you also posted in your regional group on Facebook? Just thinking that your idea would reach a larger local audience there. Also wonder if you’ve thought about maybe running small workshops at your home since you clearly have a lot of very valuable skills that others could benefit from.

Don’t know if travelling to Truro is an easy option for you but I Googled and found a local knit and knatter that might be of interest: https://www.visittruro.org.uk/regular-local-events/knit-natter

I’ve recently moved to a new area and have been looking around at what events go on here that I might want to go to or get involved with but it’s not easy is it? I do feel very lucky that I’m naturally a very self sufficient person but that’s easy to say when you’re priviledged to have reasonable health and the support of your loved ones (husband and just one dog in my case - LOL!).

Hope you’re able to work something out :two_hearts:

Hi Debbie

That’s so lovely you have taken the time to answer me and provide a link to a local knit and knatter group. Unfortunately, I don’t drive anymore. The club is in the mornings and I don’t get pain free until mid morning! My husband gives me all my drugs at around 8.00am. They take about an hour to kick in before I can get moving without falling over etc and get dressed.

I don’t know if there is a local Folksy Facebook group and I will try to see if I can find it. Pleased you are settling in after your house move.

Take care

Here’s the link to your local Facebook group: Redirecting... Hope that you find your tribe there :two_hearts:

Hi Debbie

I have managed to apply to join the local Folksy Facebook club. Let’s hope I can make a few friends!

Brilliant! Hope that you manage to arrange a get together. I still think it’d be awesome if you arranged some little workshops at your house - maybe a learn to knit circle? It would only need to be for a couple of hours or so and there are SO many people who would love the opportunity to learn from a real person rather than YouTube and books (which is what I did). The FB Folksy group might be a good place to feel out appetite for it.

It’s probably wildly inappropriate for me to make these suggestions and it has absolutely nothing to do with me but I can’t help myself - LOL!

Hope you have a lovely weekend :two_hearts:

Hi Debbie

I think your suggestion is a good one. Years ago I went into my sons secondary school and to the teacher’s amazement I actually got 13 year old boys learning to knit. Another student I supported and sponsored her through her a level in business studies. She followed me through the processed of small production limited edition children’s cloth clothing from designing, making and selling in my own boutique children’s shop which also included my knitwear. She passed and went on to university. I found the experience very rewarding.

That sounds great. I was taught the rudiments of crochet as a child by my neighbours granny and I was always so grateful for it. My Mum and a lovely friend at work both tried to teach me to knit but it didn’t take, for whatever reason! I’ve always been an independent learner as an adult and to be honest really do enjoy teaching myself how to do things, I even got my degree from the Open University without going to a single tutorial - stupid but a good challenge!

Being so much older now I realise that most people don’t prefer learning the way I do and there aren’t so many experienced people, who are also great teachers, to help them.
