Hi everyone,
Any advice/feedback for my wifes little shop?
As I’m sure you all do she’s put a lot of love into the few items she has but had little interest.
I know it’s hard going wherever you sell and not to expect too much but do you think the pricing is ok or?
Thank you,
Darren.
Hi Darren, they are very pretty makes but I think Claire needs to fill up her shop with a lot more of them! There are squillions of items here on Folksy and just three will get swamped.
I suggest adding the ‘about me’ section and also some social media links.
They are not the sort of thing I would buy, but the pricing looks OK to me. I wonder if a photo of one of the tea light holders lit up might help?
Good luck to both of you with your shops.
The about section has not been filled in, customers buying handmade like to meet the seller the about section is invaluable.
Plus with only 3 items in her shop very limiting to hold someone’s attention. Her work is very good.
What about social media? Not showing any links and sm is the one place to advertise.
Great advice, thank you.
Again great advice, many thanks!
- I would not use .95 in prices for handmade work.
- I would make the photos brighter so all those gorgeous colours to come out better. Also I would crop if something shows in the corners etc.
- The item in the main photo should be more centered and interesting.
- Listing descriptions are copy paste…try to write a different one focusing on each product individually.
- There is no About page so we know nothing about the seller.
Many thanks for the great advice.
I see you have IG and FB but there are no links to your shop here. If you want the shop to be found you will need to drag your customers in as they will not just happen to pass by and drop in.
Hi I think the main photo on the tea light holders should be cropped to fit and I would show it with the candles in so that it is apparant what the item is straight away without having to read anything.
Could she include the candles so it is ready to give as a gift, you can buy large bags very cheaply so it wouldn’t have to cost much. If I was looking to buy I would rather have the candles supplied with the holder.
I like Debby’s @Bearlescent idea about including the tea lights in the sale. The less a customer has to think about, the better, (especially at this time of year). It’s a good selling point if the gift is ‘good to go’.
Great idea thank you.
I was given advice years ago that said art or craftwork should always be priced in whole pounds. You are not a supermarket.
I do go to 25p bands as sometimes i need to have price differences between pieces and whole £1 bands for everything idoes not do it for me.
If i have something at £20 and another at £25 and want something in the middle then it will be £22.50.
It does of course depend on your type of price range. For people selling things under a fiver and there are lots and lots of them, restricting to full £1 price units would probably be a bit silly.
50p isn’t as bad as 95p or 99p. It’s a personal choice in the end. If people are selling under £5 then 50p steps do make sense I suppose. I think the advice came from an arts organisation, Crafts Council or Artists Newsletter or someone like that.
