I am new to folksy

I am new on folksy and I am yet to get my first sale. I am looking for some pointers and perhaps some honest advice from a veteran seller.
My shop is @Candlesbyrhae

Have a look and if you could leave some
honest critiques.

Rhea it is very quiet on here atm.

One thing I would stage your shots more, take a look at other candle makers online or Pinterest for some ideas. You need to sell the experience. Your description was brilliant walking through the orange groves but the image let’s it down. Put some orange peel scattered around using the scents in the candles etc

Put the size of the tin volume height etc.

Hi Rhae, welcome to Folksy. I agree that your photos need a little work, you need different angles and a lifestyle shot so that people can really see what they are buying.

I’ve been here many years and never known it as quiet as this, so don’t get disheartened. Use this quiet time to perfect your game so that you are ready for those sales when they happen! Best of luck with your shop, I hope you do well xxx Amanda

I’ve just had a look at your shop and couldn’t resist buying one! I know someone who is going to love your candle…I’ve recently reopened my shop, I think its about letting people know where to find your shop. I just keep posting my shop link on Facebook and Instagram…sooner or later sales will happen. Best wishes.

Hi ya,

Couldn’t resist a quick look! Looks good, but as other’s have said you do need to do several different views on your photos (I’m still playing with various ways of taking photos!). Also you will find that the more items you have the better chance you have of being seen, it takes time to build up but I think it is worth it in the end! I’d also be tempted to make your about me section a bit longer, it feels a bit like a set of bullet points at the moment and might read better if it’s a bit more chatty.

Good Luck!

Cheers Lou

I wouldn’t say I am a ‘veteran seller’ as I’ve just completed my first year, but if my comments are any help, I think that your candles really looked lovely, and the descriptions were very evocative. Getting someone else to read through your text is useful, as sometimes a new eye can pick up things you haven’t noticed. For me, I noticed that in all descriptions there is a sentence which reads: All candles our eco-friendly, which I think should be: all candles are eco-friendly. I also thought that putting the text over the middle of the images was a distraction from the image itself, though I realise you have probably done this so that your images cannot be copied. I would also echo other sellers’ point that you could show your candles lit and in use to vary the type of image. But I think you have a lovely product, and there is a real sense of your enjoyment of creating.
