I don’t know what’s happened in the last week but my stats are showing a very bleak picture, for the first time in a long time I’ve had absolute no interest whatsoever ever, if I do a search for Christmas cards some of my items show up, same with other cards etc, but 1 click in a week and 12 visits?
Anyone else noticed similar or has something changed @folksycontent that has skewed the figures so badly?
Just checked and mine are running about the same.
Thank you, hmm it’s very odd, hard enough as it is but blimey I’m beginning to wonder what’s the point.
I’ve only just started promoting folksy again on SM as my views on the other side have absolutely tanked. From over 300 views a day to less than 20. I don’t know what’s going on.
I haven’t joined the daily listing thread this month. My likes and visits went from hundreds to zero! All those likes didn’t equate to many sales though. Maybe people are going to craft fairs at the moment, so things might pick up with last minute shoppers.
My direct and google shop visits have virtually disappeared. When I renewed my plus membership in September they were 50% of views.
Thanks for all your replies, I’ve never done the daily listing thread as not got time really and my drop off has literally been this last week and if anything I’ve upped my SM a bit, usually tick along at a steady pace and views etc stay fairly constant, had a little up tick during the summer exhibition and a few sales even though I wasn’t in that which was fab but hope this slump picks up a bit for us all.
Oh dear I think my image clearly illustrates that there has been a general drop in views (the sources of today’s show this is from nowhere really except internal Folksy).
My external views are generally a good 50%.
Of course the current stats are pretty well worse than useless as snapshot stats are just and only that, especially if we want to have any idea of trends or anything really but, when i think of it, I do snap and save them (but that only gives me total figures not the source breakdown). This shows my last 2 snips mid October and this morning. Not good.
I just opened a pinterest account and have put my folksy link on. When i google the basic topic, mine are starting to appear in the google search, so im hoping this might have an effect on visits and sales.
I have no idea if what I’m about to say is true and it would be good to hear if anyone else has noticed this because the alternative is that my brain is on the fritz…
When surfing Folksy a month or so ago looking for inspiration for a Friday board, the little heart in the top right of an item’s thumbnail to favourite it wasn’t there and I had to click on the item to go to its page and favourite it there. I’m sure this was the case both on my phone and my desktop because I was intrigued about why it had disappeared and made a point of looking at both. This week, I noticed the little hearts are back and I’m wondering if this could have had an impact on item views as you don’t have to click through to favourite things any more?
I’ve only be saving my daily stats from late October when I came back from hols, so they’re not showing anything helpful. As for the other place, the two main theories I’ve read lately about the drop in traffic there (and my own shop is feeling the same pain) is that their behaviour towards sellers has lost them a lot of buyers (because, hey, a lot of buyers are sellers too - surprise!). The 2nd theory is that there’s a general trend among shoppers to get out and about more rather than shopping online. The latter is doubtless in part due to the continuing impact of rediscovering freedom to mingle post lockdown, but I do also wonder if many people are just too overfaced with the crap online and it’s getting so that they can’t tell the crap from the quality, so go where you can pick things up and see for yourself?
mmm possibly may just be a hectic week I haven’t had time to do anything business wise much this week everyone seems quite frazzled and wanting to hibernate It might pick up soon I imagine it will Just going to do what I can manage. such lovely items on Folksy Ill be doing a little Christmas shopping. I do think postage can put people off it can add up so some might want to go out and shop at fairs like you say save on lots of postage.
Mine were a bit lower this morning but I’m guessing it’s because the spike caused by being featured in an email newsletter has now dropped off my weekly stats. Also I haven’t had a lot of time to list new stuff or do social media this past week and that always has a negative effect. Am trying to remedy it today… will see whether it works!
Thanks Joy, I can only dream of the sort of figures you show… but I know you put a lot more effort into promoting your shop than I do and if even shops like yours are seeing a drop its a bit worrying.
How I would love to be featured anywhere on Folksy … I am rubbish at SM I’ll admit but I always try to post at least a couple of times a week and as I say I’ve not noticed anything until this week.
Fingers crossed your work on SM etc will work wonders today.
Ive got a Pinterest account but absolutely zero idea how to use it or how to add links or even how to search for things on it…
My views have really dropped (sales virtually nil) and I am rarely getting views from google or other search engines. I think something is very wrong, as not sure Folksy is coming up on searches. A while ago Folksy told us that they had done work on this, but I always used to get Google, Bing and Duck duck go on stats, not any more!
I downloaded the app, I think it is easier to navigate.
A quick search indicates that Google rolled out major updates in Oct and another in Nov (that one is still being rolled out). Looks like the October one relates to mobile phone indexing (is the version of a internet page for mobiles as complete as the desktop version), the November update relating to spam links and reranking of pages after the spam links have been removed from the calculations. I’m sure the team are assessing the impact of these updates and adjusting accordingly but since google is still rolling out the update there will be a lag in responding. (google does say they try to not roll out core updates in the busy christmas season and 2 in as many months is very unusual so something is going on there that they are not admitting to)
Folksy’s previous work was to make sure we appeared in and ranked highly in the results on the ‘shopping’ tab. If I do a search for ‘surfite earrings’, I find that there are a lot of (irrelevant) ads before I get to to actual products section. (search engines will get a referral fee from ad clicks but don’t from product clicks) BUT are lots of products (from at least 3 folksy shops) at the top of the products section. I see a similar result if I search for ‘fordite earrings’ or ‘fordite cufflinks’. But there are a lot of irrelevant ads before I get to the products section.
Im having issues with the shop layout im getting a huge folksy icon and typed info down the side its not my usual folksy layout it changes back if I go to my shop name but if I check out anything else its like a printed listing page with folksy logo thats it bizarre. I noticed with the odd sellers shop too it went the same also getting blurred out images like brown and gold striped is anyone else finding this issue too.
