I only do unique … or should that be
Also , never mind my business cards … where do I put my cash box, mobile phone, inventory, drink
Such a shame. I would love to do a “Folksy Show”.

Sadly, I too wouldn’t be able to cope with a table this small. A lot of my items are cushions and I reckon I’d be able to fit about 6 on a table of that size with no room left for any of my other stock such as toiletry and cosmetic bags and purses. I have 2 sections of trellis hinged together to hang tote bags on and I don’t think that would fit on there either. My other tote bags usually hang on a hat/coat stand, for which I’d have to pay extra. It’s a shame but definitely a no-go for items of the size I make.
It’s a lovely idea though and I really hope it goes well and raises the profile of Folksy.
Yes cushions are going to be a struggle on a table that size!
Thought it might be interesting for those attending (or not?) to see how those that have done Crafty Fox Markets have arranged their tables. Some have used the smaller table, others a larger table, but I think it shows what to expect and hopefully help those sellers attending!
Sasha, @SashaGarrett thank you for doing that, I’m sure I could display enough on a 75cm x 75cm table (is that an ercol table? If so, I’m jealous )
However, Liz @BigBirdLittleBird having taken a look at the photos of previous events, they seemed jammed packed solid with happy customers and artists, but not a grey hair in sight! And I have got to the stage where 'I wear purple, with a red hat, and it really doesn’t suit, I sit down on pavements when I’m tired, and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells and run my walking stick along railings and go out in my slippers in the rain’
So, taking all this into consideration, I don’t think this is the right place for me, I need more space, I don’t need to be so close to my neighbours, thank you very much, it honestly looks as though some of the stalls are bending around corners.
For some, it will be a perfect opportunity Just not a grumpy old woman like me…
You’re welcome - I did it as much for myself as I have gotten used to having space and was wondering if it would be possible to go down to anything other than a 6ft+ table and thought the results would be useful for others.
It is an ercol table - got it off an auction site for £35 and then sanded it down and re waxed it myself. I’ve also got the matching rocking chair - inherited from my grandmother and re cushioned by my sister. (I could have had the whole dining table/ chairs/ sofa set from my grandparents when they down sized but they didn’t think anyone would want ‘that old stuff’ having bought it new back in the 60s so had donated it to charity (!!!) before I could register my interest)
I think if you knew you were going to be selling from a small table regularly you could be very creative with designing specific space making stall props/ staging.
It is useful seeing the pics Liz shared ( thanks @BigBirdLittleBird ) it gives us a glimpse of the target market CraftyFox are aiming at.
Look like good events for the right product.
The venue looks gorgeous, very exciting. Will have a real think about whether to apply, realistically, when I factor in travel time/costs from Manchester it might not be that profitable for me. I’m a total art/craft fair novice as well. Good luck to everyone who gets involved! X
Snap I need more space for my display and for me. I’ve had customers turn in amazement when I’ve bent my knees to get to my storage boxes under the table and they’re responded with a loud crack. Can be quite tuneful at times.
Which reminds me of another reason I need a bigger table - to store my storage boxes - which hold spare stock + empty boxes for the suncatchers on my display stand. Only room for 2 boxes under that size table.
.
You’re quite right. If I wanted just to sell my fused glass which includes jewellery, then a small table would be fine. Just not fine for my stained glass which needs a different way of displaying and cannot be confined however creative I could be.
Here are a few more images from a recent Crafty Fox Market at the Geffrye Museum in London. We’d love to fill this market with as much original handmade work as possible
Next time you/ they are organising one down in London give us a heads up - I can get myself and a 4ft tables worth of stock down there on the train no problems if you let me have one.
@folksycontent hi- have the stall holders been informed? Many thanks!
They have. It looks like the emails have gone into some people’s spam/junk folders, so if anyone hasn’t heard, check those!
Wonder what happend to / at this event. Expected to find lots about it on Folksy this week but haven’t heard or seen anything at all ?
Did anyone go ? / Was it good ?
xx
I saw lots of posts by Folksy and sellers over the weekend - the venue looked amazing and the stalls, beautiful. Looked like a great place to have a stall. I would have loved to have visited and seen it all if i had been able to.
There were posts on Instagram and some on FB but I also follow Crafty Fox Market who were hosting the event.
Thanks L:iz. Just had a browse of Crafty’s photos.
I went on Sunday and enjoyed it. It was a very professional event and from what I saw, it was well attended and people were buying and having a nice time. I bought fabric ( no surprise there ) and when I came home made a purchase on-line on the strength of what I’d seen.
It was definitely not for me as a seller, but was a nice day as a buyer. Parking in nearby streets on Sunday was only £1 for the whole day and there are lots of good places for lunch in the same street, so a handy venue.
