Well, I’ve been on folksy a while now, had a couple of sales over xmas, but it’s been very quiet in general ( guess I spend too much time making, and not enough time promoting!)
But …here’s the rub… I like it here…genuinely handmade stuff, nice laidback sellers…( I’ve a little shop on Etsy and whilst things sell better over there, it’s a totally different vibe…)
So today I bit the bullet…paid for the plus account…and I’ll be adding listings as and when I have time over the next few months…
So wish me luck…n if anybody’s got any helpful tips n tricks I’d love to here them…
Great news, now you can list as many things as you want, which is a big bonus. Hope it all goes well for you, just keep listing and promoting on as many social media platforms that you have time for.
Mine has just run out - I do think it’s worth it but I will leave it a month or so before I renew as funds are a bit tight LOL
Welcome to the easier life, I have over 300 products in my shop so it was a no-brainer for me. I’m terrible at creating and not listing too, ended up last summer with a difference of 100 between my stalls and my shop. Regular listings do improve your profile, get you on the front page more often and so on.
Good luck and enjoy (I stay on here for exactly the same reasons)!
The joy of the plus account is that you can list as much as you like and it won’t cost you any more so all those things where you’ve thought ‘nah no one is going to want that’ you can now list.
(and yes we all need to promote more but would rather be making)
I really wish you so much luck!
This is my second year paying for the the ‘plus account’ and I’m afraid I will be closing my Folksy shop at the end of the year as it just doesn’t get the views and sales. I have other forums that I sell through and thankfully I make a really good income from them. Not Folksy though.
@mypipsqueak that is sad that you are leaving…I looked in your shop and you have sold loads…!!!
Most people would be delighted with those sales and your work is lovely too !
I suppose we all have different expectations …
Sorry to hear that Vicky. Just a tiny bit puzzled by the phrase "I have other forums that I sell through ".
Do you mean that you only expect your customer base to be members of this forum.
I have to admit to not having seen your lovely page before at all. What a shame. Your body suits are gorgeous and if one had popped up when one of my husband’s great grandchildren was arriving I would have purchased one.
I think though that you are ‘not at all active on social media’ which is what is needed to get views and thence customers on Folksy.
Joy xx
Vicky take a look at the Themes for February at the top of the Forum, I can see about three categories that some of your items could be featured in i.e. Love Hearts, Year of the Pig and Best Friends. I know it’s a bit of a pain adding another tag to your existing ones, but it will mean a bit more promotion for your lovely shop.
