I think only items or shops offering a discount or special offer are being featured in the emails unfortunately or the most recent Folksy Favourites on a couple of the emails :disappointed_relieved:

Ok thanks Natalie, It doesn’t mention it on my email ,it says advent calender which when the headlined (For her) door is opened there is a page of items for sale, but the “Trio of Treats” at the top of the email do give an offer .ie free postage or money off.

Ah, the for her, for him, unisex gifts links underneath the door bit and the three clickable links to the shops with the offers on takes you to those curated gift guides.

Hi both. The idea behind the campaign is to create an Advent Calendar that people open by email, with something different behind each door.

So far the treats have been a mix of offers and gift ideas, but after the 16th December (when postage gets trickier) they will be things like tutorials. The first few emails only contained offers, to get people used to the format, but since then each one has also linked to a different gift guide or the Folksy Favourites, or directed people to Search so they can look for anything.

We’ve tried to include as many different gift ideas as possible, and we’ve also been working really hard to try to include as many Folksy sellers as we can in each gift guide. It’s a BIG job!
Here’s what’s coming up:

The offers we’ve been featuring in the Advent Calendar are from our amazing Folksy Local team captains, as a way of thanking them for all their hard work this year.

I hope that helps explain it.

Hi Camilla

Thanks very much for explaining, that’s great and good to know the reasoning on why the certain shops have been featured, I totally understand now

I didn’t mean to sound moany, so sorry if I did. I’ve just been a bit disheartened at the mo and have been seriously ready to pack it all in. After months and months of stocking up my shops every spare minute, so I have 2 or 3 of everything, ready for the usual winter and Xmas rush, and then hardly selling much at all due to the cost of living crisis and now the post strikes, it’s just been disappointing and disheartening, and then I got it in my head that people must think my knitwear is rubbish. I’m just being a daft apeth!

Thanks for letting us know what’s coming up over the next few days, that has me very excited now :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Thank you! I only thought I had 1 thing in the knits for living and wearing, so thank you, it means a lot and I really do appreciate it.

You all work so very hard and the advent calendar emails are a great idea as it will get more people looking and clicking through.

Sorry again for seeming ungrateful/moany, I really didn’t mean too, I think I’ve just lost my knitty confidence a bit…

Oh bless you @teabreaks Brenda, thank you, you are so very lovely :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: xxx

Hi Natalie. You didn’t come across as moaning at all. They were all very fair comments. But I’m so sorry to hear you feel disheartened. I don’t think you’re alone. There are so many people on social media talking about how difficult it is at the moment, particularly for small independent shops and businesses. But your work is fantastic, so hold on to that.

We’re here to try to help as much as we can, so if there’s anything else you think we could be doing, please do let us know.

We were thinking of hosting a kind of Folksy Christmas Party for sellers next week, maybe online with a few songs from Doug and a quiz. Obviously that’s not going to help sales but it could lift the spirits. What do you think?

I would love to know how to get into the Knits for living and wearing Gift Guide!

About 30% of my items are knitted, by hand, using pure British wool, so as eco-friendly and sustainable as you can get. They have tags such as knitted, cosy knit, knitted hat, woolly, pure wool, British wool, which seem pretty relevant. I’ve had photos with light backgrounds, dark backgrounds, lifestyle shots. Year after year - nothing!

Meanwhile I keep popping into Folksy to remove an item from sale because it sold out on another site . . .

Hiya @folksycontent Camilla

I’m so sorry for the delay in replying, it’s been a bit of a bonkers few days day job wise and shops wise.

I’m feeling a bit less disheartened at the minute, and these past few bonkers days have been such a boost (thank you so very much for Tuesday   I REALLY appreciate it!!). I’ve also had some lovely thank you emails from customers here and on the other side this week. I think I’ll re-read them every time I’m feeling disheartened about it all. I think we all need to do that and read our reviews again and again too, as people do love all of our work, its just bad timing with the financial situation and post strikes I think. It’s really hard not to let it get to us all though…

I think a Christmas party for sellers next week is a fabulous idea!

Thank you so very much again Camilla, it means the world to me :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :yarn:

I think it’s a lovely and thoughtful idea to showcase the team captains shops. It’s a great way to thank them for their hard work.
Thank you folksy for adding some of my items to gift guides. I’ve sold a couple of things that were in the gift guides so I’m sure it has helped
