Shop Early For Christmas October

With the up and coming Folksy Early Christmas Event next month, can someone direct me to where I sign up for the Folksy Newsletter? I do receive e:mails from Postie At Folksy but not sure this will the notification prior to the event will be in my In Box or do I have to register elsewhere too. I am a Plus Account Holder.

The link to sign up is on here: Shop Early for Christmas - 7 & 8 October | Folksy Blog

Both the seller newsletter and buyer newsletter come from postie, but unless you specifically signed up for the buyer one, it’s likely you’re just on the seller mailing list. That’s usually the “seller news & tips” emails, the buyer newsletter has recently sent out one on Folksy favourites, one on knitted items, one on the featured seller… so if you haven’t received those you probably need to sign up.

Thank you. So not signed up for the buyer one! Can you point me in the right direction as I don’t see a link from my shop, nor can I find on search … although I will apologise now as technology and me don’t see eye to eye…

We’d wanted to do this be we go away for a week from 8th October - very inconvenient timing with Christmas coming up but as it’s my other’s 90th birthday I better not miss it :grinning:

Trying to work out whether it would work if we kept the shop open, extended the delivery period to 10 days or something and put a note on products

That’s what I am going to do - Brother and Sister-in-Law up from Australia so lots of days out and fun when they are here. Hope your Mum has a wonderful 90th birthday and there is lots of cake and balloons.

We’re away that week too  What I’m not sure about is if our products are seen in search if our shop is on holiday… You can still see them if you go into the actual shop - will have to look into that.

There’ll certainly be lots of cake - she’s said no balloons - but that doesn’t mean there won’t be any :joy:

63 photos in 3 big frames to celebrate her life, family and friends. Should be enough fun I think :grinning:

They can still be seen - I often leave a comment and post that while our shop is on holiday people can still browse. But I am wondering if a potential customer can’t make the purchase there and then whether they will come back. And if they would wait 10 days or so for delivery.

Thanks and yes, that’s the only challenge isn’t it? I know that if I liked something enough, I would favourite it and come back though :two_hearts:

I think I would too - unless something else caught my eye perhaps. Never easy to second guess customers - we see this all the time at markets - people promising to come back and they don’t. I now suggest they buy now and come back later - or leave an address and we’ll post out

We’ve been working on the event page for this and it’s looking great! So if you haven’t already chosen and tagged the product listings you’d like to include, here’s a reminder what you need to do. We’ve also created templates on Canva to promote the event, as well as templates you can use as the main/first image for your listing. This is so that it makes it super clear to customers why each gift idea is special, and highlight any offer you might have to swing that buying decision  You don’t have to use them, but it would be great if you could.

To take part in the event:

  • Make sure you have a Folksy Plus account.
  • Create a listing as normal for each of your Christmas gift ideas – or edit an existing listing.
  • Add the tag ‘shop early’ to your listing (without the quotation marks).
  • Choose one of the templates here to use as your main (first) image. Choose from:
    – ‘shop early discount’
    – ‘multi-buy offer’
    – ‘can send direct to recipient’
    – ‘free gift wrapping’
    – ‘one of a kind’
    – ‘eco-friendly gift’

Please DO NOT change the colour of the circular badges. This is to help customers see, at a glance, why they should buy now at this shopping event rather than wait until nearer Christmas. If none of these apply, just use your usual product photo.

  • If you are offering free gift wrap or a special service or discount etc, also make that clear in the description. You can also add it to the title if you have space.
  • Use our ‘Sales’ feature to reduce the price, if applicable.*

You can list your items at any time before and during the event.

Important: The page will only show three items from each shop at a time, regardless of how many you tag. This is intended to make it easier for buyers to see a wide range of items from a range of different sellers and prevent an entire page being filled with products from one shop only. So although you can add the ‘shop early’ tag to multiple items in your shop, only three of your listings will be visible on the event page at any one time – and these will be based on the order in your shop.

This means that if you have tagged five items and one sells out, the page will automatically pull in the next product you have tagged in the order it is listed in your shop. It also means that you can change the items that are shown on the event page by rearranging your shop using the Shopkeeping feature. The changes will be visible when the page updates.

Templates

We have created a range of templates you can use to share your participation in the ‘Shop Early for Christmas’ event. These are created on Canva (which is free to use). To use them, simply replace the product image on the template with your own image and send it to the back. Find all the templates here >

Any questions, just ask!

When I try to download the image it says it contains premium content and that I need Canva pro ??

Oh strange. Let me have a look. Sorry!

Does it work now? https://www.canva.com/design/DAFtp9ldqM8/HWSVtCgcf-VvThEyDh-xpQ/view?utm_content=DAFtp9ldqM8&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=publishsharelink&mode=preview

it does, but also downloads zip files and all the other templates with original images.

To use them as templates, this is what you need to do:

  • first upload your own images to Canva
  • choose which graphics you want to use, and replace the sample product shot with your own
  • drag and drop your own product shot over the existing image
  • or delete the existing image and then add in your own
  • send your product shot image to the back
  • when you are happy with the graphics, download them

Does that help?

Thats what I was doing. I’ve made my own using your colour and font, is it good enough? Obviously a lot more time consuming.
