We need your help! We want to create a collection of new gift guides, but we want them to be as niche (or specialist) as possible.
Once we have a list we’re going to create the new guides on Folksy, featuring relevant items, and promote them using paid social adverts and Google Shopping ads.
So we need ideas that are 1) based around interests 2) that have enough items on Folksy that fit the theme 3) that people search for but where there isn’t currently huge competition. An example might be “Gifts for Crocheters” - although there’s quite a lot of competition for that one.
Can you help us with your suggestions - we’re just looking for Gift Guide ideas at this stage, not items to go in them.
Collectable Artist Bears
Collectable Dolls
Hand Embroidered Gifts
Sewing Kits/craft kits.
I know these are all things I make but I rarely see bears or dolls on the front page of Folksy and they need to be seen Sewing or craft kits are great for Christmas and could have a huge range of different products in the guide,
Gifts for animal lovers
Gifts for walkers
Gifts for dog lovers
Gifts for the home
Gifts to brighten up your living room wall (that might be a bit long but thinking of what I do )
Gifts for the tea lover
Gifts to brighten the dinner/coffee table
Sorry got to get back to work but will try to think of more this evening XX
Also :
Gift Sets…these could be anything
Heirloom gifts…again thats were my bears and dolls could pop up
Kits for children maybe, I don’t know if there are any as I havn’t looked.
Hi Debby. Thanks for all these ideas so far. We’re ideally looking for really niche terms because if they’re broad like ‘Gift Sets’ we won’t have any chance of ranking for them on Google. We’re also specifically looking for phrases that people will be searching for as Christmas gifts. So maybe something like 'Gift Ideas for Crafty Kids". Sorry if I haven’t been clear enough in my original post.
Gifts for nature lovers
Gifts for lovers-of-the-outdoors
Gifts for wildlife enthusiasts
Unisex gifts
Gifts for cooks / bakers
Gifts for sporty types
Gifts for a ‘sweet tooth’
Gifts for lovers of purple ( or any other colour !)
Gifts for book lovers
Gifts for lovers of hygge / Scandi-style
These are some things I’m going to be looking up for gifts this year, plus a couple of really specific ideas:
Useful Gifts for Students
Parent-to-Be Gift Ideas (also Mum-to-Be, Dad-to-Be etc)
British-Made Secret Santa Ideas (nothing in there over £20)
Zero Waste Gifts Under £20
Zero Waste Gifts Under £10
British-Made LGBT Gifts
Handmade LGBT Gifts
Secret Santa for Crafters
Secret Santa for Bookworms (etc etc)
Stocking Fillers for Children Under 8
Gifts for Very Tired Parents (soaps, home spa stuff etc)
Feminist Stocking Fillers & Secret Santa Ideas
Eco Activism/Be Kind to the Environment Gifts (I don’t know if there’s a better term - I’m thinking things like bird feeders, bee houses, upcycled kitchenware etc, that help encourage nature/help the environment in your garden or home).
How about
Gifts for Under £20
Gifts for Under £10
Gifts for Women/Men Over 40
Gifts for Women/Men Over 50
Gifts for teenagers
Not sure if these fit the bill but they are what I would search for.
Right @PocketfulCreations I’m away to search for Gifts for Fantasy Lovers and see what I get
Here are my (not entirely selfless) suggestions:
Christmas cracker alternatives
Alternatives to Christmas cards
Upcycled gifts
Gifts to entertain at Christmas (nothing to do with Helen’s suggestion!)
No not at all Camilla probably my fault for not reading it properly, you did actually say ‘niche products’.
I would like to suggest Artist bears and Dolls though as there arn’t many featured but I obviously realise what a huge job you have searching through the hundreds of shops so it can’t be easy.
I will keep thinking lol…there are quite a few suggestions on the forum and clubhouse page now which is good, think you may be a tad busy.
