It is with great sadness that I will be closing my shop. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me and my little shop. Everyone is so friendly on Folksy, and the forums are brilliant for help and advice.
Not sure which direction to take my shop anymore, I have tried so many options but nothing is working at the moment. I know it is a quiet time over all platforms, but I have just lost motivation.
Sorry to hear this - I too am closing my shop and I know we are not the only ones. It’s very sad as like you I’ve enjoyed ‘meeting’ all the lovely people here on Folksy, but I’m spending too much time promoting my shop for too little return and I have a ‘proper’ job that pays a wage running my husband’s commercial photography business and I need to concentrate on that. I suspect I’ll have trouble weaning myself off coming on here everyday but I’ll have plenty to keep me busy.
Sorry to hear you’re closing your shop Natasha - I’ve just put in an order for some floral ribbons as I find them really difficult to track down in the shops local to me.
Hi Natasha, sorry to hear that you’re closing your shop, it’s a very quiet time for me as well but I think I’ll hanging in there a bit longer.
Just ordered some of your lovely little spotty buttons to keep me going for a while.
Wishing you all the best for the future.
Lynn x
Its very hard at the moment as people just don’t seem to be buying.
I’m lucky that my shop is a hobby business as I work part time also. I couldn’t survive doing this alone.
It would be great to one day focus on creating full time, but until the pressure lifts economically I can’t even think about it.
Your ribbon selection is beautiful. Are you closing completely or do you have shops and outlets in other places??
sorry to see you go Natasha And Karen
I know for Karen it is because of other things you have going on…but Natasha isn’t it worth just keeping a few items in you Folksy shop…it is only a few pence to list for four months.
I used to do craft fairs and sometimes had to pay £45 for a day so paying £45 for a whole year of unlimited listings on Folksy is nothing in comparison. …worth thinking about…x
Thanks Brenda. I’ve had a plus account for a couple of years, run out a couple of weeks ago. I don’t really want to close my shop as I do love Folksy, been on here for years. I’m just in the process of thinking of new ideas for my shop. I might hang on until Christmas as I have a lot of Christmas stock.
I’m really sorry to hear that you are closing. It is so difficult as I know sales are up and down with no rhyme or reason sometimes. People tend to start buying from Sep really so it might be worth waiting. Best of luck for the future xxx
Natasha, just a thought but could you get some flyers printed? Lots of businesses on a well known auction site will do them so cheaply and there’s lots of good reviews. You could leave them everywhere you go I’ve just have some done by a printing company and I’m going to send them out to businesses and salons and see if I can get them on notice boards at local church halls and community group meeting places etc. Might get the word out to the public and help.
Thank you so much Jo for taking the time to help my shop, really appreciated. Love your suggestion about the leaflets. Didn’t really think about advertising with leaflets, always thought it would be too expensive. Off now to have a look at some prices.
@TheRibbonQuarter - sorry you’re leaving, sending good wishes for the future xx
So many shops closing at the moment - I noticed yesterday that there were just 3888 shops selling on Folksy now, compared with well over 5000 just six months ago.
My pleasure. I think it would be a good way of getting your items out there into the big wide world. And if craft groups are being held locally it might help x
It’s hard to get our items seen by the public in my opinion, most of my sales are from fellow crafters and not the general public so far
