Closing shop
I see lots of people closing their shop. I have thought about it and if I was paying a monthly fee I would have.
Frankly views poor my sort of leather work are very low . May be the wrong product for Folksy. But, the world is not in a good place and maybe people are prioritising other things. I do get views and more sales on Etsy , but again not feeling the comparison is fair so not rushing to make any changes will see what the new year brings. Good luck to all
I think you are right, the world is not in a good place at the moment. I saw an article that footfall to the sales in the big shops was down 30% on last year, I think people just don’t have the energy to go shopping at the moment.
Hopefully things will pick up later in the year.
Hi,
Tags are very important for getting views as they are what helps you get found in the search results. I had a quick look and you are not using your tags to the fullest - they need to be phrases that people might put into the search box like leather cuff, unisex bracelet, rustic cuff. Before you give up completely on Folksy perhaps try revamping your tags (here’s a link to the blog article on tags How to use tags on Folksy). I also noticed that for the earrings you are missing dimensions (width/ drop etc) which, in my experience selling jewellery, is an important factor for people looking to buy.
Hi John. You have some lovely items and they are very reasonable in price - I think Sasha is right about expanding your tags a bit though…you have to think like a buyer and decide what they may put in the search box. I am not the best to be giving you advice though as i have only sold about 4 things in this whole year but I am able to keep my shop open as it is not my only income…luckily… or we would be at the food banks right now!! I feel greatly for those who have taken the plunge and have their shops as their main business. Hopefully things will pick up this coming year.
I think things are slow at the moment because people are saving their money. We are due a huge hike in energy bills and everything is costing more due to the loss of income by businesses because of lockdown and loss of earnings etc people selling essential items or small gift items for special occasions may do ok at the moment but non essential items are going to find it very slow.
