Customer wants to change delivery address

A customer has asked if I can deliver to different address from the one supplied with the order. I can do it as the order hasn’t gone out yet .
I’m questioning this because this has become a Big No No on another platform ( beginning with E ). Not being able to show delivery to the address supplied can result in customer support straight refunding .

So i’d really appreciate others opinions about doing this here on the lovely Folksy

Assuning it is a perfectly normal order and civil request I would of course do as asked.
On my other sites a different delivery address can be entered and in fact I sent one out like that just today.
I would though always check address given using Google maps as people know their own address but can make mistakes with their friends and relatives especially re post codes.

I’d be nervous too, I know from personal experience, that Ebay (personal item not art related) won’t allow it, well they can’t stop you doing it BUT you are not covered as a seller and there is nothing you can do if the buyer them makes a claim that their item was not received.
Not sure if it would help here, but the advice there was to refund the buyer, ask them to then change their delivery address to the new one and then check out again with the new address.

Having said all that on here and for me personally it would depend on what it was, anything that was expensive then no I wouldn’t.

Folksy don’t handle the payment processing of orders so the question should be how would the payment processors handle it if you send it to a different address to the one specified at the time of ordering. Certainly for paypal if you ship to an address other than the one specified on the order and the customer opens a case you will have lost all payment protection and they will refund from your account, not sure how stripe handle it. So depending on the size of the order (and whether anything about the buyer has set my spidey senses tingling) I may cancel/ refund and get them to reorder but if it was a lower price order and they seem like a reasonable person I’d ship it to the alternate address but make sure I’ve got full tracking on the parcel.

(If you do opt for the cancel and reorder option then bear in mind that neither stripe nor paypal refund the payment processing fees so you would be out that money (folksy would refund their fees))

I have a regular customer who lives in France, she buys lots of gifts from me for her daughter and friends and I always post them to addresses in Gloucester, she does enter the delivery address as theirs not her own now at checkout. She found me on fb last year and messaged to ask if I could post direct to family in the UK, I said yes and on the first order she left a note with the forwarding address.
