Hi Everyone,
Back again with a listing, a bit different this time, a bundle of silk material ideal for lots of different crafting… one large piece and 5 smaller ones all decent sizes though…
That’s some inspirational view Brenda. Delightful

Hello all
I haven’t managed to list anything yet, but have managed to find a streetview of my first flat. I bought this on my own and was very proud to have my own property (this was in the mid 90’s when it was very cheap!). It’s a ground floor garden flat in Walthamstow, east London. We sold it for a profit a few years later and were able to buy a three bed house in Leytonstone. We’ve since moved to Fleet in Hampshire where my husband’s family are, and been here over 10 years now.
Evening all.
Wow fantastic views!
I have failed to get a new listing ready today. Been trying to get ahead with stock for Xmas fairs, so lots on the go but nothing photographed. Will do better tomorrow.
What lovely pictures of first houses and of fine views - very inspirational.
Well done Sue @SueTrevor on your sales I’ll add them to the tally.
August sales are moving towards the 200 mark with the total standing at 172 sales so far - pretty good going for August so quite possibly the Folksy Summer Sales Event made a difference.
Having said that we don’t get many big spiders …… this is the second one this week in our kitchen sink. As I took him outside, our chickens appeared and proceeded to fight over the tasty snack!
Fab! I remember gong there for piano lessons. An awful experience (the lessons not the place ). I used to spend my lesson money at the shopping centre
on a roll now…
what was your first job, where and details?
My first job was in an office above Baker Street Station…working in old fashioned IT on the London Underground Payrol ( so I knew how much all the big bosses were earning.)…but don’t ask because I will have to kill you if I tell you…1962 )…My pay was £304 a YEAR.
My first full time job (bar and waitressing work excepted) was in the Home Ideas department in Liberty, still my dream job working in this wonderful shop but it was very long hours and very low pay so I had to move on. I also did a stint in the haberdashery department which fuelled my love of all things habby.
Thanks Max x
Evening All
A very long day for me so I’m off to bed early. Thank you to those folk who sent their best wishes - it is appreciated x
Oh no, no no @WonkyTowersCrafts!!!
My first job at 16 was as a care assistant in a local care home. My mum worked there and was trying to ease me into the working world. I was painfully shy and could barely speak to anyone, I just used to hold their hands a lot. I used to struggle so much trying to hide how upset I’d get when they died. I didn’t stay long, and could never go back to that kind of work. I have such respect for people who can do that kind of job for years and years.
Sorry for your loss Susie @islamaymakes
My first job was for a jeweller in London called Lesley Craze, I worked in her workshop in Old Street, manned her stall in Covent Garden and worked in her galleries in Islington and Farringdon. It was a great experience.
I also started working for another jeweller in Covent Garden market about the same time, they opened a shop near Liberty. I worked as their stone setter right up until covid made them shut up shop. So about 40 years.
My first paid job was when I was 8 years old… I went to a small school and the children were expected to help serve the school dinners and do the washing up… I thought that this was unfair, so petitioned the Headteacher, complaining of child labour! I negotiated a wage of 5p per day for anyone who helped in the kitchen! (I have always been trouble!)
Apart from the usual jobs of part-time shop work, waitressing etc to pay my way through Uni, my first real job was teaching in a Primary school across the road from the Secondary I had gone to…
