Daily Listing Challenge and Group Promotion thread - November 2024

Morning all,

I hope you’re all well!
I took myself off the site for a while as I lost all energy after not having a sale for over a year. But I’ve decided to give it one last push before Christmas, hoping for a festive miracle!

Good morning everyone grey and dull here on the upside the greyness is really making the colours of the smoke bush sing out.

Lovely photo Susie @islamaymakes.

For those with doubts and worries about sales my feet are firmly planted in the don’t give up camp. My sales are few and far between and often to people I know but I make because I enjoy it and selling is only a small part. That said each sale gives me great pleasure and that is why I make and sell and don’t just make.

On social media I am new to the game and try and post something every day. As Max @MaxPringArtAndCrafts says mixing up posts with things for sale, WIP, how I make stuff and the everyday (views, the dog being cute etc.) works best for me and I am really surprised to have over 650 IG followers from a standing start earlier this year. Does it drive sales I don’t know but I enjoy thinking up posts and have had a few short reels which have racked up more than 2,000 views.

I would say @theslothscavern and @ButterflyThistleCreativeCrafts if you enjoy the making then keep doing it but if the joy is missing take some time to reassess rather than jacking it in.

Today I have a new pin cushion made from one of the pieces of hand embroidery I did while visiting my Mum recently:

Hilary @kokoblue …I have no choice but to sort Tesco. I don’t have a car and there are no shops nearby, so if I didn’t have a delivery, I would have no food !..No way could I go on the bus with my weekly quota of groceries. Kelly of course has a car but since her car accident she is such a nervous driver that I cannot put her through a grocery trek. Even when we go to town together…which is rare …maybe once a year…I pay for us to go by taxi…and we only go when we have something important to do,
I managed to get hold of the security company and a very nice man talked me through how to deactivate the house alarm…and he is going to come up and sort it out for me.
I am not going out anyway ( rarely go out)…and breathe…

Hi Everyone,
Another grey day here…

My listing today is a bit different… I process lots of sheep fleeces each year and always end up with waste wool… so my lovely husband has come up with a solution, we are using it to create wool pellets to turn waste into a useable product…

I’m just impressed Brenda @teabreaks that you know the Christmas slots were available! You’re obviously very organised unlike me, I’ll be waiting til the last minute hoping a delivery slot becomes available! I’m always nervous about Christmas deliveries as one year the shopping turned up Christmas Eve with an apology that they’d run out of turkeys! David had to make a dash to the local coop to find one, as you can imagine the only ones they had left were enormous and very expensive! Lesson learnt!
I’m so glad you’ve got your alarm sorted, I’m not sure why they never go wrong during they day :joy:

Booked our slot for Christmas delivery in early October! Waitrose are always ahead of the game. Having been with them for years get priority booking, so lovely to have loyalty rewarded.

Hilary @kokoblue I pay Tesco for a yearly contract , so they notify you when the Christmas slots are available and since the lockdown I have been able to always book 4 weeks in advance…hence the 8 bookings…
Caroline @Caroleecrafts the Tesco bookings today were for loyalty customers…they are not available to the general public yet.
