No listing from me today, and I may not be around much for a few days. A friend’s mother has sadly passed away rather unexpectedly and I’m going be spending some time with them.
Can I just report 4 sales please Susan @SusanBettyArt

Sorry to hear about your friend’s mother Sharon @TheOldButton
Little bit of sunshine here this afternoon which is very welcome
Healing vibes to you and your friend’s family Sharon @TheOldButton x
Great stuff Lynn @erkinwald ….well done on your sale, now added to the tally
Hello Sharon, I’m sorry to read about your friend’s mum. It’s lovely of you to spend time with the family to give some comfort. A big hug to you and we will hear from you at some point.
Well done on your sales, now added to the tally
Hi Everyone,
Sharon @TheOldButton, I am sorry to hear about your friend’s mother too. It will be an awful shock for her and I am sure that your support will be a comfort at a time when it’s probably very hard for her to think straight.
My photographer (aka Colin, my husband) has managed to do me some more photos today. So here is a new listing: a needlecase, one of my longer ones which works well for darning needles etc. I also make up and sell smaller ones which work well for everyday sewing needles.
Hi everyone, I did intend on coming back sooner but have just struggled with motivation and energy … and questioning my business as I’ve seen some posts on social media that make me feel bad about what I do and that I’m not a true crafter at all, makes me feel like shutting down to be honest.
In better light, I got my clinical diagnosis of MCAS, histamine intolerance and dysautonomia today which was such a relief I’m going to be trialling some medications (h1 and h2 antihistamines and mast cell stabilisers) which is scary but exciting!
I’m afraid I won’t be able to fully catch up as it’s soo overwhelming to go back on so many posts but I’ll do as many as I can . Hope everyone’s doing well !
Yep there’s a lot about that at the mo but it’s a lot more important to the people living over than than us ! (Not to minimise the situation) of course if you still genuinely need and use the apps and they help you, carry on as long as you’re being safe!
The general consensus is that they’re meta owned aka Elon owned… therefore letting accounts go inactive costs them money to keep up but doesn’t make them money. Same as clicking on their ads and doing nothing, as they have to pay for the ads still, this is all based off what I hear around online💜 it’s not meant to fear you at all but as long as we are mindful and can still access what we need there’s no issues really, it’s impossible to ask everyone to leave all the apps! I rely on my mums fb for advertising and also support groups for my chronic illnesses as I’m nothing without them, and my best friends are on Instagram so I can’t be without them.
evening all, super fast catch up to love all the listings. Sorry I’m not up to date on all the chat. I do really appreciate all the messages of support - it does mean a lot to have all you online crafty chums.
I just have a relist today;
My daughter takes various things re mask cells, I am not sure exactly what. Like you she also has a diagnosis for M.E. and also fibromyalgia, ibs, POTS, hypermobile joint syndrome, and Graves Disease. So many people collect these same set of diagnoses (apart from Graves, which she was just unlucky to also get), they are obviously all linked, but sadly no one knows why, or what the root cause really is. And there is no effective treatment, no cure. And very little research, although there are encouraging signs. It must be tough for you, I am sure you have to joggle life around good days and bad days, but be thankful you have the energy to run your Folksy shop. Sadly my daughter is housebound now and only just manages to look after herself with our help, with all her energy going on the very basics like eating, washing and dressing. And bad days see her bed bound.
Wow bless her, I am also housebound at the moment! I have pots undiagnosed as well as ME, PPPD, ibs, gerd, and god knows what else I’ve forgotten. Brain fog gets so hard to deal with ! Most of my illnesses are triggered and worsened by covid , but my MCAS is lifelong, only activated into being worse from covid and then fluoxetine… I also got my pots from a meningitis vaccine in 2019, difficult to talk about but I have a lot of trauma from that day as I had a reaction to it and never the same since! I’ve refused the Covid ones for that reason and due to extreme anxiety and fears. It’s all very complex isn’t it, but there’s more research coming out! If you’ve not looked into it before the MTHFR gene mutation is an interesting read linking all these sorts of conditions, im also in the process of being diagnosed with autism and adhd and highly suspect ocd and pmdd as well! It is soo difficult isnt it, I feel awful relying on my mum to do everything for me as I’m nearly 20 and almost bedbound for 3 months ! If she wants I have a WhatsApp group full of potsies with lots of comorbid conditions such as herself and me if she ever needs a support group
I also happen to be hyper mobile (HSD rather than heds or Eds), I’m about to start trialling loratidine, cetirizine, famotidine and ketotifen as I already take piriton daily, and then we will discuss vitamin c, d and other mast cell stabilises or antihistamines if these don’t work out !I must say I’m super nervous to try them all
Afternoon all,
Shirley @pirateswag - I very much agree with Liz @PatchworkPackages regarding meta, and thankfully the recent changes (so far) only apply to the USA. I would certainly wait a while, and see how things pan out, and as Caroline @Caroleecrafts says, stick to crafters and avoid politics! Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
How lovely, Hilary @kokoblue - just what we need to counteract all the bad things going on in the world - hope Alfie is feeling better.
Oh no! Joss @XStitcherJoss, that must have scarred you for life! Poor dolly!
So sorry to read about your friend’s mum, Sharon @TheOldButton
Thanks. Fortuntely she is part of numerous social media support groups, as and when she has any energy to join in.
Hilary @kokoblue …I went to the fb group for the " random acts of knitting and crochet kindness " and told them how pleased your grandson was with his freebie “find” at the doctor’s.
Obviously we don’t know which member of the group left it there but I knew they would be thrilled that it found a happy home.
These ladies knit and crochet these little dolls and teddies and leave them all over the place for people to find…xx
Thanks yes I will see what happens - thank you the good wishes for tomorrow xx
Thank you Brenda @teabreaks, I saw your post on there and added the photo that Stephanie posted earlier on the group. Hopefully the person who made it will see it x
All caught up for now
@pirateswag did your son say why you shouldn’t be using these platforms. I personally use them a bit for my work to promote local shops and have started adding links to my Folksy. I get very little traffic from Instagram though Facebook and Pinterest are much better at driving traffic which I think is due to being able to add a link to a post. I will ask my daughter in law she is an expert in data analytics so may be able to advise but as others have said the thing is to be careful and limit who you interact with.
Until tomorrow Bye have a good evening all
He just very suspicious of the new administration over there! He thinks Facebook quill be bombarded with all sorts of things & me being a absolute tech dinosaur - that I wont cope!
