Dodgy shops

I am happy to give it a go but everyone should agree both here and Facebook. We also have the Jubilee weekend which is 4 days.

I agree with all that has been said about stopping rogue shops but there is a BUT. If Folksy were to commit to vet every new shop then it would take a team of several people working full time to achieve this. In March there were 491 new shops and in April well over 400. This vetting would have to increase our monthly payments.

My argument to that would be rogue shops would not bother to be vetted but back out, that should leave in the main parts genuine sellers.

Those of us that do it now does not take long, checking twice a day and Folksy owe us due care and attention doing due diligence to ensure this site remains handmade only. We are their customers after all. Legally their responsibility.

Hi everyone. Thanks for flagging this so quickly. We removed the shop and its items as soon as we saw the urgent email to support.

We are working on a solution to address rogue shops but there is quite a lot to think through, as each solution has its own ramifications. We do have an idea, but in the meantime if you do spot a shop selling illegal or dangerous items, please do use the urgent@folksy.co.uk email.

For shops/items that don’t meet our terms but aren’t illegal, just continue reporting items in the usual way, through the ‘report item’ button on the page.

The one I reported this morning has now increased its delightful range of s & m.

Grim isnt it. Im also prepared to bet my house that the things are made in a factory somewhere like Pakistan and imported. Pakistan has a thriving leather industry.

Just traced the blue jumpsuit and cones from Abu Dhabi! Just adding more and more stock and not being taken down despite reporting another item this morning!

I feel let down big time that Folksy has gone down this route obviously not interested in made in the UK. No longer checking these shops for Admin as have better things to do with my time. ie spend hours making genuine handmade items to sell.

they are on Ebay and cheaper too

So I’ve looked this morning and the bondage gear seller is gone. And has reopened immediately under a very similar name, but just with imported leather jackets (for now). I guess the kink will appear once they’ve got their feet under the table. It’s the same seller though - they even use the same shop name with a tweak.

Just spotted a shop called LeatherKrafter, which I’ve traced via Facebook to California USA. And they openly said that are an exporter and are a USA registered brand

Just spotted a shop selling designer iPhone cases, using Gucci, Louis Vuitton etc

It’s never ending isn’t it

sneaky…but as long as they stick to items that are allowed then I can accept that IF they are genuinely made in the UK??

I’ll do a reverse image search to confirm but I’m pretty confident it’s imported from Turkey, Pakistan, somewhere where there’s a leather industry like those.

Manufacturer based in Pakistan, so I’ve reported it to Folksy.

Brass neck.

so what exactly is a cable that is for sale for 90p with free WORLDWIDE shipping…even a stamp is 95 p…very suspicious…I can’t even work out what it is…(thought it was a whip at first ha ha)…any ideas anyone?..reported it just in case.

The odd thing is exactly the same on E…y for £21.58 from India. Defo not handmade, did you report it Brenda?

I reported the odd cable thing this morning (I thought the same as you at first Brenda @teabreaks, prompted by the shop we had here earlier in the week I suppose :joy:).

Yes Caroline @Caroleecrafts for someone to sell something below the price of posting it, is suspect to me as a scam…even if it was something small it would still cost at least £1 to post and pay for packaging.
