It’s the hottest Five Day period for over 20 years! But with the right essential oils and a bit of a plan, you can keep cool on those balmy days. There are a multitude of great essential oils out there, but the family of oils that really help beat the heat are those with menthol. Menthol is known for it’s cooling sensation.
Try Peppermint, Spearmint ( slightly sweeter) or even a peppermint spearmint blend ( use more spearmint than peppermint to tone down the mintyness).or for something exotic, Spearmint and lemongrass blends will blow you away and keep you cool.it should also help sweaty skin stay germ free.
How to Make
For the menthol-based essential oils, it is important that you dilute them first. In a small bottle, mix 12 drops of your essential oil with 30ml/1oz of carrier oil, lotion, vegetable butter or other moisturizer. Make sure that you combine the two ingredients well!
For the lemongrass blend, try adding to coconut oil (it smells amazing) – combine 1 drop of essential oil to 3 teaspoons of coconut oil.
How to Use … Carry this cooling blend in your pocket and apply to temples and wrists when you are hot. Pop it in a spray bottle ( but remember the water will heat up) Adding essential oils to the water will make the cool feeling last longer, since the essential oils will be absorbed into your skin. For every 8oz of water, add 2 drops of essential oils. Step it up a notch by adding Aloe Vera as well – this will keep your skin hydrated and help combat any sunburn before it happens!.
