It certainly rules in my house, although the two members of my family with it drive me crazy!
In the last 5 days Iāve sold 3 frogs.
The first I think was as a result of my posting it here on the forum.
The 2nd and 3rd, both made to replace the previous one just sold, were spotted on my Facebook page - there is a like from the customers who bought them on the appropriate Facebook post.
I post everything I make on there as soon as Iāve listed it, with a link to it in my shop.
So yes it seems to me to be well worth the marketing. It doesnāt cost anything
ā¦but please noteā¦I do work pretty hard at my Facebook promotion.
PS: And the Summer Solstice which I just posted on my page and shared on British Crafters - 10 minutes ago - has just sold - so thereās my proof it works anyway
I like the interaction on FB, you can have a chat and discuss possible custom makes far easier on there and popping a photo up is easier too. All this faf on Folksy of listing items and they never get seen by anyone anyway! I know I moan about FB but it is definitely worth a try if only to build up friendships with fellow crafters like yourself. We are such a lovely chatty lot you canāt help but like us lol!! Good luck with and hopefully see you over there

I love FB for marketing and genuinely enjoy the chats with other artists and those who follow my page as well as taking the time to follow other pages. It has brought me direct sales (regularly), exhibition opportunities and commissions. It takes time. Be true to yourself, be active, donāt use it for obvious in your face selling too much though some have highly successful āmarket nightsā which seem to work well - I think it works better to get a following first.
I love including process shots and sharing work by other people I admire, this keeps the page varied. Seems to work - have fun.
I like your advice, Fiona. Iāve neglected by own FB for ages, but now I want to get more involved with it because I do think it brings people to my shop in the long term. And I do just want to genuinely be me on there. Can I ask how do your āmarket nightsā work? Do you just pick a day to put up a post with new work/discount offers etc?
Wow, sorry for late reply lol - only just seen this.
Just wanted to say that 3 years on I still use FB, though have added in Instagram which I love. I donāt do market nights and I havenāt seen much of these recently, though suspect that might just be the pages I am following. My FB page just ticks along nicely as an adjunct to other social media, with a regular core following. I donāt have a shop there, but do take enquiries or redirect people to my website or here.
Hope all is well with you!!
