I usually direct all my buyers to here, but will sell direct on Facebook and other forums now. Well, it will a lot less commission to pay
I am really disappointed too. Its very very hard to make sales on Folksy. I have sold less than five items since being on here for a couple of years. What Folksy are doing is not supporting the really small businesses who could do with a boost towards getting on their feet. I have also noticed that anything which makes the favourites page or is featured on FB is usually something that looks highly professional and machine manufactured (not saying that is of course) and more like something you would see in a catalogue rather than more rustic items that look obviously handmade. I think that too, keeps the little shops down.
Brilliant Joy! I laughed out loud
I am not happy with this either but am lucky I suppose that my sales have seemed to pick back up over the last week, I am a looong shot from what I sold this time last year but at least I am getting sales again.
I have also been listing on the other side for a few months and my shop on there is getting more sale and views than on here so I will also be jumping ship if this sticker isnāt removed. I have paid my plus fee until August next year but with everything going wrong lately and now this what is the point?
Iād actually like a refund on my plus acc as the goalposts have moved since I paid out for it.
Perhaps every single shopkeeper on here could invoice Folksy with a fee for allowing advertising in our shops? After all, anywhere else theyād have to pay to advertiseā¦
How much shall we charge
Have to say I agree, site has changed beyond recognition since I renewed my plus account in June
not happy about this being displayed in my listings would ask for it to be removed
its difficult enough to get customers in to the shop without you directing them elsewhere
agree with all above, this is awful!
I too agree with each and everyones comments about what Folksy are up to. I was only thinking the other week to let everything in my shop run down, well this could be the decider.
Its almost like having a stall at a Craft Fair and a customer coming to your stall and you turning round and saying to that customer āthat stall over there sells the same items, go and buy from themā
After waiting all day for a proper response have moved from very angry to heartily disappointed with Folksy.
Some lessons in customer relations may prove invaluable here, perhaps read through a couple of your own āhow toā blogsā¦
We treat every one of our customers with respect and always respond to any queries promptly, whatever the day of the week or hour.
I agree too. I must say the silence from Folksy has aggravated the situation even more. Personally I would like to cancel my account and have a refund for the remaining months.
In total agreement, I would never treat a client like this, even at the weekend. You cannot operate an online selling site like this and not be around to deal with queries, issues and support etc.
I am a bit annoyed too but let Sian have a chance to reply.
I feel as someone has popped into my shop and placed an advert for something else! Its my shop I have paid for my listings and this my shop, I dont want an advert
Itās so disheartening to read all of this and not see a decent response from Folksy. We all work so hard to achieve the sales we get on here (how ever many) and it seems that Folksy just continue to make it harder. Considering it is now perfectly possible to build your own shop easily for free with no listing fees or commission (something I did recently after watching my shop views graph take a nose dive this year), you think theyād be doing all they could to keep us. Big sigh.
Joy of Glass - thats the funniest thing Iāve seen today
Anyway - stick a fork in me Folksy - Iām done - I had ONE view yesterday and youāve put an ad on my page directing the customer elsewhere.
On my two etsy shops and two websites I had views in triple figures (plus lots of lovely sales)
This is all very worrying. I find these forums very useful for gauging the opinions of established sellers, and if everyone is about to head off somewhere else (if they havenāt already) itās making me consider whether I should abandon my fledgling effort here, and start up elsewhere. I donāt have the time at the moment to manage two shops, so itās one or the other.
Any sign of the blog post yet? Iām very intrigued to see how this change can be justified.
Iām also keen to see the long-awaited blog post about the bland front page for non-logged in users, as promised by @sianfolksy on Nov 5th ( Are your sales picking up? )
Seeing as Folksyās staff are in possession of all the stats and data about how these changes affect the site, the least they can do is share them with us. There just seems to be a total lack of communication between Folksy staff and sellers lately and sudden changes (like slapping links to curated selections left, right and centre) are thrust upon us without consultation or justification, and at a really critical time of year. Itās easy to see why it causes such uproar. It would be nice to feel like our concerns are being taken seriously, and weāre not just being forced to like it or lump it. Weāre all potential buyers as well as fee-paying sellers, surely our opinions count for something.
I think ⦠To be fair ⦠As this sort of kicked off last night, 24 hours and no reasoned response from Folksy, is a long time to wait, on what is the busiest shopping weekend of the year⦠And with the biggest online selling day on Monday ⦠Itās not looking good.
The answer is very clear. Iām in the same position, let my Etsy account run dry to concentrate on Folksy, mainly because it was British. Five orders in October, since then⦠Nothing.
They have stopped me liking posts on this thread as well !!!
