Unfortunately in the world of Facebook, you can need to make things difficult to avoid spam, scam or even just irrelevant posts like people sharing links to non-Folksy shops.
I don’t know if it is the same for all regions, but here in East Midlands we have two pages. One is a private group where sellers can post, which I follow for events and such, and the other is a public group where it looks like only the admin post, there is a Shop Now button on this one to take you to Folksy. Perhaps you have the same in the North West?
(Sorry, I’ve just seen that Kim has said something like this in her post)
I tried to join the Folksy Local Yorkshire and Humber Facebook group, but haven’t heard back from them. I’m based in Leeds. Their instagram hasn’t been updated in a long time either. Are all local groups the same?
The SE group is great. We have a weekly post on the private group to share items, and these are fed out by the group admins to the public group. Also weekly folksy friday posts tying in with the theme of the day. Our admjns do a wonderful job.
@jollydee some of the regions have struggled to find volunteers to run them or the volunteers have had to step down due to other commitments. If you want to become a local captain for your region and help out with the social media stuff then I’m sure Folksy would love to hear from you (drop them an email).
I’ve been the same Ruth. I’m based in Doncaster and applied to join weeks ago, but have never heard anything.
I wouldn’t have time to commit to being a captain, but would support anyone who was willing to step up.
Thanks Marion and @SashaGarrett
I don’t have time to commit to be a captain/team leader either unfortunately
Just an Idea, as I’m on here everyday. We could have a Made In Yorkshire thread and post on there.
I do quite a bit of posting on Facebook, but don’t really get traffic to my shop. They tend to like/comment on the post, but don’t take it any further.
What do you think?
@jollydee @CraftySew Sorry about this! The local groups are run by team captains (which are sellers that have kindly volunteered their time) but as @SashaGarrett says, unfortunately some of the teams have lost their captains or they’re just not very active.
Unfortunately Yorkshire is one of those without an active captain, but I’ve just been through the requests on Facebook and accepted everyone that completed the membership questions.
Many thanks @kimfolksy for this!
We could have a go Marion! @CraftySew
I guess really the aim of the game is getting more people aware of Folksy and how it’s a great place to find local British made gifts, as well as getting to know fellow local makers
