That’s a great idea! Just a few days ago I was thinking of listing those second items in my shop. When I write knitting patterns, I first knit the items in spare yarn and inevitably, there are always small imperfections. I then correct the errors and knit the items with the right yarn for listing in my shop.

Does this include end of line stock? I’ve still got a few bits left over from taking part in Super Seconds Festival.

Hi Jessica, yes - end of line, seconds, samples, it all works. Just make sure in the description that each item is clearly marked as seconds/end of line, so customers are aware. We’re looking forward to it!

Are you going to create a List for the Front Page of Folksy with all the items? It might be easier for customers to find all the items and a good way to keep them here on Folks to browse.

Great thanks!

This is such a good idea. I want to try my hand at hand quilting and not sure how it will turn out, so I would be able to advertise my quilt even at a reduced price rather than having it taking up space in my projects shelf.

Just a reminder that Seconds Sunday is happening on Folksy on Sunday 30th October. We’d love as many of you to join in as possible!

So if you have any pieces that have been hiding under the bed, that have small imperfections, that are from an older or discontinued range, that are samples of new work or ideas that never made it into your collection…

  • Add the tag ‘seconds sunday’ to listing
  • Add the words ‘Seconds Sunday’ to the title
  • And make it clear in the description why this piece is a second

You can also use our new ‘Sales’ feature to reduce the price to account for the flaws or imperfections or the age of the piece.

On the day of the sale, there will be a section on the homepage for the Seconds Sunday Sale, we’ll be sharing it on social media (using the hashtag #folksyseconds) and also sending on a buyer newsletter.

Anyone can take part but, because this is a (free!) bonus event designed for Folksy Plus sellers, the pieces we will be sharing and promoting on social and in the newsletter will be from Folksy Plus shops.

Presumably we can start posting seconds now with the tags? It’s the Folksy promotion that’ll happen on the 30th?

Hi, I had been adding the tags already, to get organised, and then sold a couple of items straightaway! So, I guess its fine, just ahead of the promotion as you say. If you put seconds Sunday in the search, you will see other makers have done the same x

I searched too and there’s lots of fantastic bargains already! I hope to use it as the theme for my Folksy Friday this week.

 I think I might confuse myself this week with a Second’s Sunday Folksy Friday. I’ll give it a go though!

Thanks Petra. That makes sense. Thanks. It’s a great idea of Folksy’s to do this. It saves things getting wasted or left in a drawer forever!

FUNNY EDITING BUG

I’ve just reported this to Support, but thought others might need to be aware in the meantime.

When editing listings ready for Seconds Sunday, if I edit the Description (to say it’s a Clearance Item), it sometimes pushes it over the character limit and I get the dreaded red error message.

When editing again to correct this, I have discovered that the original Price and the Sale Price boxes have been transposed (eg. if the Price was £30 and the Sale Price £25,the boxes are showing the amounts the other way round - so Price £25 and Sale Price £30).

This can be edited and saved, with no harm done, but I thought others might want to know, just so you can check as you go along.

Liz
