This weekend is Seconds Sunday - one of our most popular events of the year. Is your shop ready?
Here’s what you need to do to take part:
First up, you’ll need to be a Folky Plus member.
Then, create a listing as normal for each of your ‘seconds’ or edit an existing listing.
Add the tag ‘seconds sunday’ to your listing (without quotation marks or a #).
Make it clear in the description why this piece is a second, accurately describing any flaws or imperfections, or whether it is an end of line or sample.
Use the ‘Sales’ feature to reduce the price. Set the sale price to account for the flaws or imperfections; the original price should be what it would cost if it was new and perfect.
It’s also worth noting that we may limit the number of items per shop to either 3 or 5, depending on how many pieces there are in the event, to make it easier for customers to see a wide range of options. You can include as many items as you like in the Seconds Sunday event, but the event page will only display the first 3 (or 5) based on the order in your shop. So to change the items shown, simply change the order of items in your shop.
Can we tag items that are already reduced in our shop @folksycontent or do we need to tag ones that are not already on sale ? I can’t remember what I did last time. I have a couple of items that I arn’t making this year and a couple of bears already reduced but don’t have anything listed as a seconds, would it be ok to add the tag to these , thank you
I won’t include my bears as they are all one off creations so not applicable as any of the options but still have 3 items I can include as they are end of line.
We have tagged Alan’s last 12 pieces of woodturning as he has retired from this. All perfect pieces but definitely “end of line” and never to be made again - his lathe, tools etc all sold
I’m taking part, I’ve done previous ones. It’s a great opportunity to clear older stock or the"perfectly imperfect" and to get some money back on samples/prototypes. Seasonal sales have their place, but this event is that little bit different.
So how did it go for everyone? Unfortunately I had to be away from home at the weekend and wasn’t able to do any promotion on the actual day. Huge thanks to the people who featured my items in their social media posts, that was lovely of you. I had three sales over the weekend and another one came in just now, so I’m pleased with that, and I’ve seen quite an uptick in my shop stats so clearly the event got more people looking at Folksy and I’m pleased with that too!
Is everyone leaving the ‘seconds sunday’ tags and titles or should we now be removing them from unsold listings?
We had four sales over the weekend so well pleased with that. Our sale of Alan’s last woodturned will keep going but I will remove the seconds Sunday tag when I get round to it
