Thank you so much for your kind words, it really does mean a lot to me.
As a fellow knitter, I think your photos are lovely.
I don’t have any high hopes but I’m thick skinned so if my pieces don’t make it, so be it. I just thought well if I don’t enter, I definitely don’t stand a chance. But everyone must do what’s right for them.
@DemelzaDesigns - I have “loved” that gorgeous little dress before - it is beautiful and your photography far better than mine! We enter for fun, to support Folksy and be part of this lovely community. ![]()
I’m going to try and re-take a few photos today so that I can enter some pieces into the exhibition. I’m really struggling with my photos this year for some reason. Just can’t seem to find the right place to take them where I’m not always casting my own shadow on everything!
That’s my problem, and I don’t seem to get it right.
Well certainly the photograph of the beautiful dress is ‘right’ as far as I can see - as are many more ![]()
I agree with Nikki @DemelzaDesigns this piece really stands out ![]()
I’ve been really interested reading through this thread - and @dotterypottery your comment definitely resonated as I feel this year I’ve been struggling too!! Is it the weird weather/light that we’ve been having???
Anyway, back to my point!! I now actually feel like I’m trying to enter a photography competition rather than a product exhibition and I’m not sure how much more I can achieve without buying in a lot of additional equipment etc. I’m currently giving myself a good talking to, to just get some photos entered
!!
Your photos always look great to me @Macclesfieldbagworks - just do it ![]()

Aw thank you lovely lady, that’s so kind of you
… I’m definitely into overthinking mode ![]()
Your photos look really good to me Alison @Macclesfieldbagworks
I don’t think you’ve got any worries x
Are people entering lifestyle photos or a plain background?
Thank you so much xx…I always love your work and photos. I have jumped from background to background but decided on a plan background in the end.
Oh, and I have been laughing with @MatildaBelle that I’ve been washing ivy from the garden for my pics!!! Too much???
I haven’t even got mine made yet so not thought about photos
. Third and last attempt to be done tomorrow ![]()
I honestly think that taking it to the wire adds that extra element of jeopardy ![]()
I’d like to see how professional product photographers work - I don’t suppose they use a piece of sponge to prop up their items (which subsequently results in the piece bobbing about precariously!)
Have you got that one item you just can’t get a good shot of? Frustrating!
My little mini phone bags are an absolute nightmare…floppy straps, too small to stand up without sliding down again. Pain in the ***!!
Not sure I really need the jeopardy
.
I hear you ![]()

You are all making me laugh, I identify with you all. I’m spending more time on trying to get the perfect photo than I am making flowers
looking at last year’s entries made it worse ![]()
Oh my word, I love your tulips. They’re so pretty…and the photos are fab too ![]()
