Today I typed Folksy into google and the top return on the search was ETSY!!!
Rather alarming that people looking for us would be directed to over there instead if they weren’t paying attention…

I think it’s because that an Ad. If it wasn’t for that then i think Folksy.com would be the first one.
That’s an interesting spot. Oh dear, not good. I like the name ‘Folksy’ but is a bit unfortunate it’s more of an American term. I remember when I was first told about Folksy by a work colleague I didn’t immediately pick up what she’d said and had to get her to repeat it.
Yes I noticed that too. I wonder if it’s something Etsy have set up in their ad? If so very unethical!
It is an ad as it says Ad next to it! Surely they shouldn’t be be doing that?!! If they’ve paid to have their website show up when someone searches for Folksy, that’s disgraceful!
I think though, as @feelfeltfound says, folksy can be a descriptive term for art / decor in the US. If you click the link, it’ll take you to US items tagged with ‘folksy’. Annoying, but doubt it’s intentional on Etsy’s part…they must just pay to have an ad that takes you to all their items tagged with whatever word you’ve searched for.
