I’ve just had a lovely review put on my shop , telling me the item was beautiful, promptly posted and the recipient was happy , but for some reason the buyer left 4 stars rather than 5 stars, it has also been posted twice and now my rating is 99%. I know it sounds petty but I have worked hard to please my customers and am absolutely gutted . I want to write to them and check that everything was ok as they only left 4 stars, do you think that would be inappropriate ,or should I leave well alone and hope other people, look at the actually reviews and not the percentage?
Hi there,
I would contact Folksy support in the first instance, and see if they could remove the duplicate review for you. I think there is a history of Folksy support looking at a review if they feel it is unfair, and this duplicate does seem to be a technical hitch. Don’t forget 4 stars is still a really good review, but with the second one removed, you may well go back up to 100% ! Good luck .
Thankyou , I will give that a go x
This happened to me in an “other” shop. I wrote the customer and asked if all was ok. Did the item arrive in good time and was undamaged. She responded it was all fine, except the package had a little rip in it. I responded back questioning why she rated it 3-star if it all was good and that rating affected my shop.
Anyway I also wrote to the A shop with an attachment of the customers notes.
Customer promptly changed before the A-shop got involved.
Many thanks Petra, I emailed support and they have removed the duplicate review and my percentage is now at 100% again, I’m well chuffed x
Hurray. That’s great, Folksy obviously saw it as an error. So glad you are happy again!
I too received a 4 star rating despite the only complaint being that the earrings were not 1cm longer, something the purchaser was well aware of as I am scrupulous in my specifications. He did not respond to my email and Folksy will not remove the review. However, they have said that percentage ratings are going to cease, leaving just the stars, so I won’t take it any further as I still have 5 stars.
Some people just never leave 5 star reviews unless it’s the most amazingly spectacular item ever. 4 stars is still a positive review so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. If I notice a lower star number I will read the review to see if what they say is still positive, and if it is (or just something like the “wish it were 1cm longer”) I’ll assume they’re one of those extra fussy buyers who will never leave 5 stars.
I approached Folksy as I was given 4 stars, even though the customer was happy with everything and they removed the review, so I know exactly how you felt and feel now.
I posted a suggestion under “give feedback” in Knowledge and Support. I suggested that percentages were removed and we had just an average star system instead.
Just been looking at a few shops and it looks like the percentage ratings have gone! Wonder when that happened
I disagree with the removal of percentage as after 6 years of hard work and maintaining 100% this evidence has now been removed without any consultation. This latest act follows the prior removal of one’s ability to respond to feedback when the feedback option for sellers was removed and has resulted in less feedback being left. I shall not be renewing my Plus account when it expires in October.
I just checked and my percentage has gone, I checked to see if mine had changed after they said they had removed the duplicate review and it was sill there so they must have removed it sometime today
Sorry you feel like that, I to have been here a very long time. I left and came back …twice I have also worked extremely hard to maintain my 100% percentage, but was devastated to see how easy it was to loose it by one review, it said really nice things, but was not 5 star. I personally think it’s good it’s gone as it’s so easy for it to fall, the star system still gives a great idea of how good a shop is.
It would be sad for you to go as your work is lovely .
Some people will never leave 5 stars even when you’ve tried really hard to give the best possible service. I also have ratings on phone directories. I have been given 3 stats by someone I have never met and never sold. The host sites identified the person was in Central Europe, somewhere I have never sold to. After repeated requests the site removed the feedback. Only for it to reappear a few weeks later! I don’t know why but this is malice. I have to keep checking the site.
I’ve just had my first 4 star rating and even though the review is really positive, it still feels a bit rubbish! I want it to quickly vanish from my front page now!
Funny how one little star can affect us so much!
I always think reviews are strange - not just on Folksy - but on other online platforms too. A buyer will give three or four stars and then wax lyrical about how wonderful the product is and the amazing service they have received!
Bless you. I know, even with lots of 5 star reviews, getting a 4 star review makes you feel rubbish. I had one recently who said it was beautiful, and just what they were after, but left 4 stars. Helen x
I know, 4 stars is still really high - I guess some people just don’t leave 5 stars even if they are really happy with the item.
I told my Son and he seemed astonished that I had only ever got one four star as he said he very rarely gives 5 stars for anything, Hehe…maybe my expectations of myself are just too high!
Tee hee! I suffer with the high expectations thing too! Take care x
I just got a 4 star review too although the comments are largely positive. They said that the size was smaller than expected, despite me listing the measurements.
I think I may add the size of the display mannequin to my descriptions to try and make sure it doesn’t happen again.
I agree that that one star makes a big difference
