I’ve just returned to posting after a short break and I’ve noticed that when I upload my photos to a post (from my iPhone) that for a second they appear “elongated” then adjust but the edge seems to be cropped off as though the image is too big. I always take square photos and have never had this issue before but I’m wondering if it’s anything to do with the recent changes. I’ve not noticed any issues when adding photos to listings, just the forum. Any ideas?
For example the box is well within the frame on the original photo but now on my screen it is right to the edge.
I noticed this too, when I put my folksy Friday board on that thread on Friday, then on a couple of other threads I added too over the weekend!

Since your tissue paper allows for a very quick way of seeing if its been cropped down - you have lost a row of spots from the tissue paper on each side (compared to the photo in the listing) suggesting that your photo has been cropped when adding it to the forum. What size was the original file that you uploaded to the forum? This is now showing as 1920x 1920 pix 192 kB whilst the one I was looking at on the listing is showing as 642 x 642 pix 388 kB. Have you tried shrinking the file before you put it on the forum?
Not sure how to shrink a photo size and I’ve never had to do that before when posting identical photos to the ones I’ve used in my listings so something has definitely changed from how it used to be. Puzzling. Thanks for your help.
I think they might have started shrinking the photos on the forums to save server space/ make them load more quickly so if images are over a certain size they get cropped and shrunk. I saved the photo from your listing and then uploaded it here and it is coming out the same (crop wise) as the one in the listing and at a smaller pix size to the one you posted above.
Yes that seems to have come out the right size. I just added the forum photo from my phone the same as I do when creating a listing so they should be the same. So instead of getting the photo from my phone I should just copy it from the listing to add it to the forum?
The mystery deepens as when adding photos to the forum today from exactly the same place there was no elongation or cropped image so maybe (hopefully!) it was a temporary glitch!
