Hello, Hi! Nice to meet you!

Hi everyone,

I opened my shop end of July, then was on holidays and reopened it end of August.

I have an Instagram account and I am selling some of my upcycled accessories in Craft’Coop (crafters shop) and Filling Good (a refill shop).

Since I’m here I had few viewings but no orders.

Would it be possible to get some tips to increase the visibility of the shop and the sales at the same time?

Thank you and happy to be part of this community!

Hello Jessica and welcome to Folksy!
Getting yourself known and generating sales is hard work, I think it took 2 months to get my first order. The most important thing is to highlight your shop and your items through social media as often as you have the energy and headspace for. Folksy don’t advertise so you have to push as much as you can through whatever social platforms you’re on.
Get involved and engaged in the forums, they are a wealth of knowledge and a friendly group of people and also potential buyers.
I wish you the very best of luck with your shop and hope you get some sales soon.

I agree with Hilary @kokoblue but would add that you need more items in your shop. Only having 4 items does not give potential customers much choice. You have the plus account so can list as many as you like for no extra cost. When I first opened I listed about 15 items on day 1, and added a couple of new items every week to keep people interested in coming back to look. I had my 1st sale within about 2 weeks of opening. I now try and keep at least 60 items in stock, with new items added every week.

Welcome to Folksy, Jessica. I’ve just followed you on Instagram. I opened my shop at the beginning of the year and then got sidetracked by helping a friend with an exhibition as she needed my sewing skills (One of the many things I made was a giant 3 metre high tomato complete with stalk and sepals - out of fabric and a geodome :joy: ) Coming back in September after such a long break was tough but the support of our lovely community here and commiting to Folksy Friday every week has made a real difference. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Wishing you every success. Hi everyone, this is Julie, I am back on Folksy after a very long absence, so I feel very much a noob! Good to see some faces I recognise and lots of new ones too. I have yet to make a sale since my return - I am using the “Theme of the Day” feature to motivate me to make and list new items, as I know it’s necessary to have a well stocked shop to get on the path to success.

It’s important to remember that the forums are intended as a space for sellers to share information and connect with one another, not as a marketplace for buyers. While it is possible that some sellers may also act as buyers, sales through forum posts are uncommon. Don’t rely on the forums as a marketing channel or spend significant time posting items with the expectation of generating sales. Instead, you need to spend a lot of time and energy focusing your efforts on platforms and channels where buyers are actively seeking products.

Hi Jessica, welcome to Folksy

Your photos and descriptions are good, like others have said more items in your shop will increase the chances of being found.

Good luck with your shop
