Morning everyone, just doing my listings and updating my shop etc, does it matter how many listings you have to get seen in search?
And would it be worth using folksy plus account…
Just asking as i know it affects another certain site i wont mention… i am slowly moving across to here permanently and look forward to being part of this lovely community
I would think, if you’ve got lots of different items, the more the better Just because if someone’s searching for something specific you’ll have more chance of having the keywords to be found for that search. And if you have a lot of things to list it might be worth going for the Plus account. At 18p per item, then another 18p to relist every time you sell one, or every 3 months to renew the listing, have a tot up and see if the £45 per year (I think it is, I don’t hold enough items to make it economical for me) works out cheaper Jo
The annual plus account isn’t available at the moment, so it’s £5 a month (£60 a year) you have to compare to instead. It’s also 4 months until items need renewing, not 3… but I still decided it was worth it for me to get a plus account. Luckily I managed to get the £45 option last year, but with 120ish items in my shop, I think £60 a year would be just worth it for me too. If you’re not likely to list/relist something every day, i’d probably stick to paying per listing.
I agree with what @JoSara says for reasons that more is better too… and it’s the same as why I think it’s important on other sites. The more items you have, the more searches you’ll show up in, and the more chance people have to spot your items, love them and buy them. If someone lays 1000 cards in front of you, and 100 have a cat on… you’ve got more chance of quickly spotting one of the cats than if there was just 1 in a 1000.
Of course Folksy isn’t quite as big as some other sites, and there it might be more like 1 in 1000000… so then you really need a lot to get spotted!
Oops. Missed that Plus account change happening. And I was doubting myself when I was writing 3 month renewal, I should have checked. Ideally, you’re not wanting to renew at the end of a listing’s time, you’re aiming to renew when you’ve sold the item each time, so eventually that 4 months should become irrelevant. That’d be the plan, anyway
A lot of my shop is one of a kind so there’s no renewing after I’ve sold, but I wish! To be honest, I’d be happy if I could just get to selling in a year of first listing but cards should be quicker sellers than paintings.
