As we mentioned in the first of Georgia’s ‘Reel Simple’ workshops, adding collaborators to your reels can be a great way to increase your reach. We love seeing your videos, and we love it even more when you add us as a collaborator. We can’t accept them all but we do always review them, and even if we can’t say yes to the request we can always give them some love.
We thought it would be useful to put together a mini guide explaining how to add us (or other people) as collaborators, and include some tips.
Read how to add collaborators to your reels on Instagram - https://help.instagram.com/3526836317546926/?helpref=uf_share
- Before you publish your reel, tap Tag people
- Tap Invite collaborators
- Search for our account @folksyhq then tap to add us as a collaborator (you can tag us in the reel @folksyhq too)
- Send us a DM to let us know that you’ve added us as a collaborator too, so we don’t miss the request
- Add your Folksy Local group as a collaborator too - eg @folksynortheast
We might not be able to accept your request but to maximise the likelihood that we can, try to:
- Use audio that isn’t restricted to personal accounts (we won’t show up as a potential collaborator on reels that use some audio) - https://help.instagram.com/329208821595430
- Make sure your caption is written in a way that would be appropriate for us to share on Folksy - (eg, if relevant, mention that your product is available on Folksy; don’t mention or promote other ecommerce platforms)
- Make sure your whole reel is all filmed in 9:16 aspect ratio (1080 pixels x 1920 pixels). We won’t be able to accept if some or all of your reel is not in that ratio
- Try not to make your reel purely promotional (ie just selling your product) - we’re more likely to accept requests where the reel shows part of your process, tips or techniques or tells our audience something interesting, gives them a behind the scenes snippet or is something they can relate to. We’ll cover more ideas in future workshops with Georgia.
We will try deliberately leaving space in our social media schedule over the next few weeks for your reels, and see how that works. As collaborative reels tend to have the best reach when the request is accepted immediately (rather than a day later), the best times to post any reels you would like us to collaborate on are:
- Tuesday mornings before 9am
- Saturday mornings before 9am
Let us know if this make sense and if you have any questions!
We can’t wait to see what you create
