Tomorrow at 11am (Wednesday 4th September) social media manager and professional photographer Georgia de Lotz will be hosting a FREE workshop for Folksy Plus members to help you ace Instagram.
This informative session will be jam-packed with useful tips on how to use Instagram effectively for your small, creative business. She’ll cover…
creating engaging videos and images
crafting compelling captions and using effective hashtags
how to gain better traction with the right image and video sizes
scheduling software to streamline your posting
The workshop will start at 11am on Wednesday 4th September. Secure your space via the link on your Plus page. You can join us live or watch the replay, but please register in advance either way. We hope to see you there! https://folksy.com/dashboard/plus-account/events
I’m really glad it was useful - I learned lots too! We’ll pop a link to the recording in your Plus dashboards soon, and as it was so long (two hours!) it’s probably a good idea to approach it in chunks. We’ll see if we can do a blog post summarising some of the main points too.
I asked this just yesterday on an IG post from @folksyhq and was told…
‘sorry, our engineer hasn’t had chance to add it to the events page just yet, but we are hoping to get it up in the next few days’
So hopefully soon.
Ah no I didn’t for that one, but I did for this weeks and indeed got the link the day after, so I will do that in future thank you.
Is this one (IG help) still going to be put on the event page in a few days though please… feedback seems to be it’s a really good one with lots of advice and tips which I definitely need on IG!
I finally finished watching it this morning and was interested in what was said about hashtags but the one thing that wasn’t spoken about is following hashtags. Is there still a value in using hashtags from that persepctive, I’m wondering? I follow a number of hashtags to discover new things aligned with my interests and I always think of that as a good way to reach new people as a poster.
I’m very new to Instagram, just opened my account a couple of weeks ago. Following hashtags it was one of the very first things I did while trying to figure out what it is all about and what I am supposed to do. Of course, the posts from these hashtags started popping up, and it just makes sense to me to add hashtags that I think will not be picked up by the wording on the post. For example, when we write our posts, not always it is possible to use the wording that would reflect a specific hashtag, so your chances of appearing in there would be minimal. e.g. for the #christmascardsforsaleuk. I will never include in my post something like : here is a christmas card for sale that you can buy from my uk online shop. It is simply against all tips we’ve been given regarding the algorithms etc. I would only use the word “card”, which I understand wouldn’t be enough to make my post appear under the specific hashtag. Saying that, it was mentioned that it would be good to be as specific as possible with the hashtags we use, which probably aligns with the given example. This is my understanding, but I’m still learning as well
I’m definitely a novice, I think I’m getting the hang of it and am showing off and making a reel, but then I somehow manage to send it in a message to all my followers as well. Talk about overkill. I’ll probably loose followers instead of gaining them
Just had to come on to say…
I have just watched the Instagram workshop webinar and I have learned so much.
Big thank you to Georgia who covered such a lot, explained it really well, included visuals, making it all so helpful and understandable, and @folksycontent for organising it and making it accessible for us, who could not watch on the day to catch up on, I really appreciate it.
I’ve just seen this comment and want to say a huge thank you for your kind words. I’m so glad you learnt a lot from the session. Kindest wishes, Georgia
A little late noticing this comment, my apologies! You may have seen the recent announcement but unfortunately, they are going to stop the ability to follow hastags from December 13th:
“We’re removing the ability to follow a hashtag on Instagram. You will still be able to use hashtags in your posts and search with a hashtag to discover related posts. We’ll continue to show you posts that are relevant to your interests via recommendations in Feed, Explore, and Reels.”
I also found it a great way of finding new accounts, so it’s a shame but I do think this could be the start of them removing hashtags altogether!
