I’ve just had a real Easter bunny adventure!

A lady called Mrs Shepherd posted on a Facebook local page asking if anyone had lost a rabbit in the area. She said it was getting close to the road.

No-one replied to her, so after 20 minutes, I asked if she had caught it. She said she hadn’t as she was on her own.
I was so worried about the little rabbit getting knocked over that I just got up and told Mr DP that I was going to look for it! He said “wait for me then!”
We drove over to the road that it was in and saw the rabbit on its own, near some garages and bushes. There was a dandelion nearby, so the lady must have been trying to tempt it!

As we gently approached it, he hopped off so fast!

The lady came back out and said that he kept running towards the road and he was so quick.
So between the 3 of us, we kept trying to block him in, me with a box, Mr DP with a recycling box that he picked up and the lady waving her arms! He was so tricky he really gave us the runaround for about 5 minutes.
In the end, Mr DP spotted a whole bunch of bananas on the grass verge (which was very random in itself!), broke a piece off and threw it to the rabbit!
He started to tuck in and Mr DP managed to grab him!

We took him home so that we could keep him safe until an owner came forward or we could get him scanned for a chip.

Almost as soon as we put him in the cat box, someone posted on the facebook post that it was theirs! They sent me proof of ownership and came to collect him.

Here he is back at home with his Brother!

Anyway, I just thought it was funny that a shepherd led us to the Easter bunny. Some manna from heaven helped us capture him and a man with a big cross tattoo on his arm came to collect him!
The only thing that could have made it even better was if he had left a little pile of chocolate eggs in his wake!

Such a lovely story Sarah, I’m so glad bunny has been reunited with its brother and family. It’s wonderful that you managed to find him and get him safely into the box and reunited. A lovely tale for Easter.

We had an Easter bunny last year too. Not as welcome as yours as it was a Big Wild bunny which decided to take up residence in the grass verge across our narrow country road. It hopped its three baby bunnies over to our garden to munch on my youngest tenderest plants while also starting a burrow under the delphinium.
Still sad to know two of the baby bunnies were found squished on the road. A few carefully placed pots and lengths of fencing did eventually deter the family.
But next door neighbour reported only yesterday that he has found another big bunny hole his side of the fence !!
It is odd but it is nearly always Easter when they appear

Maybe he was a healthy version of the Easter bunny and left bananas instead  thank you for sharing your lovely story and well done for rescuing him xx

We’ve owned 8 free roaming bunnies over the years and every time I’ve bought myself a new plant, Mr DP has said “You are only buying expensive rabbit food!”

Our last little old lady bunny is disabled now and can only stay in one spot, so I think it’s finally time to have some nice flower beds!
