Is anyone else's shop as dead as mine?

Snap! Though I put it down to my being new at this game. I’ve even got sucked into other forms of selling, it has been so slow…

Well done!!!

You hit the nail on the head Denise…compared to other sites which I sell on the pattern of sales on Folksy is very inconsistent and always has been, and has gotten worst lately, I dont have such a thick skin that I can afford to ignore that a selling platform does not work for me…so I have had to admit that Folksy will probably just be a site which is part of my online retail, although in my case it does not pull in the necessary revenue required, and at this point I have little faith that it ever will.

No use in living in fairyland…as the bills, family and food cupboards require hard cash!

I used to have sales every week…sales since Oct 22nd …nil…yet I do well elsewhere…such a shame as I would love to know the answer and help everyone.

I sold 100 items in my first 2 years.
and 10 this year…

And then it becomes a vicious circle. If I’m not selling anything I’m not encouraged to list things… and if I don’t list things no one can buy anything!

We were run off our feet from August to December across eBay (mainly Ebay), some Folksy and Etsy,
This year … well what can I say. Just packed a soap loaf up which is great for people wanting to embellish there own gifts. Even our pet care, which peeks in the summer, has taken a nose dive this year. We hoped to help rescue centres with the shampoo loaves too

We have stock in a shop and just hope that pulls off.

I update photos. I even run a skincare and pet care competition (closes 1st Dec if interested!). One person entered the skincare one, and three lovely furballs the pet care one.

We are having a Black Friday on the 28th then in the shop going to put to hubby a Christmas Eve sale. Other wise going to launch a Boxing Day sale.

Even in my day job, it is quiet and a lot of businesses are the same so could be all round. Think easy to think it is you. I do feel disillusioned and said to hubby about chucking it all in. You just feel that way when you put hours in.

I know we have to sort our branding … goats milk soap matches. Have the Gentlemen’s Club range. But same of the rest needs sorting,

Who knows!

Last year I seemed to be fairly busy but in reality I had 4 sales in November and 6 sales in December, which I was happy enough with, but had hoped to improve upon this year, maybe there’ll still be a rush on. (she said hopefully).

I was having regular sales until September this year though like others have said, and then everything seemed to just stop.

Well, how about that, I tell people about a really good selling platform I’m with (which I originally heard about on Folksy forums) and people report me for spamming ! I was only trying to be helpful. That doesn’t seem very community minded ! :frowning:

The only reason I am leaving my shop open is because I hope someone may one day want me to make something for them- I have loads of fabric but have given up making it into items of clothing as they will never be the size, colour and style that someone wants!

A lot of people are discussing other platforms so I’m surprised at this. Which platform was it?? I missed your original post!!

It wasn’t me, Dave! It was probably spotted by Admin and is against the Rules. Thanks for the advice, I’ve had a look and made a note. Very interesting…

I will be having a rethink in the new year, any suggestions ? lol, praps not.

I posted a similar thread to this one a while ago, sales were great on folksy in 2011 onwards, but this year has been dire, if it wasn’t for my craft fairs I would have no Christmas spending money. Shame that other platforms aren’t allowed to be promoted on here as we should be able to sell our products across multiple platforms in order to get the word out about our shops/products.

As some have said, although very disappointing, also a bit of reassurance to know it is not an individual thing or Im not the only one, it can really make you lose faith in what you do if you feel like it’s just you!

@planeteventsdirect exactly the same as you, lots of viewings but not turning into sales, perhaps as others have said it’s mainly fellow sellers looking on here. I have tried that other very popular selling site but I don’t do as well on there, I seem to get lost in a sea of others. Even after changing all of my tags as Folksy suggested :frowning:

Any tips appreciated!

Folksy would lose out on fees if they allowed to to promote other selling platforms on here which totally makes sense. That’s why we can’t use hyperlinks. You need to use facebook, twitter, cragtjuice etc to promote your various selling platforms.

yes folksy is going downhill which is a shame because Iike this site

I hope I haven’t put a jinx on it, but I have started to see an upturn in sales in my shop! Fingers crossed this will soon be the same for us all.

Like @JAustenJewelleryDesign I’ve seen a surge in sales, and in fact November has smashed all records and is the best month I’ve had since opening 19 months ago

I do promote a lot on Facebook, but always have, so I have no idea why the sudden upturn in sales (obviously Christmas is a huge help). Fingers crossed that everyone starts to see a difference soon. Have a wonderful day Folksy peeps xxxx
