Hi everyone! I just set up my Folksy shop yesterday, so I’m feeling super-excited! I closed my shop on the ‘other’ big craft-selling site that shall not be named as my items never seemed to take off there despite me promoting the heck out of them on social media, so this feels like a bit of a fresh start.
I’m loving what I’ve seen from Folksy so far and it seems to be much more community-driven than the ‘other’ place, which is a pleasant surprise - but there are a few areas such as SEO and stuff that I’m a little uncertain about.
What advice, hints and tips would you recommend for a new Folksy seller?
I agree about the dark side a lot of us prefer here as friendly and someone is always ready to help.
You have to promote through social media, showcase your items on the forum. If you join the daily challenge thread you have to follow the rules, ie list your item with a link to your shop. Everyone participating then clicks on that link goes to your shop and hearts the item. You have to do the same for the sellers that post in the thread. The rules are at the top of the thread.
Social media is key Instagram, Facebook etc. lots of suitable groups on Facebook along with the Folksy groups to post in.
welcome Craig…this is a much nicer place to be. I am letting my shop on the other side run down…I only get 1 or 2 views a day over there…and there are so many complaints and problems…stick here with us…much nicer.
I have no idea about SEO.'s…all too technical for me …I have been here for 12 years with 1500 sales ( almost) and don’t do technical things…just join in on the forums…chat with everyone and the sales will soon start coming in…good luck x
That’s great to know! Folksy is already much friendlier and feels much more of a community than that other place - my art has already had more views on here in two days that it did in a month over there!
Hi Craig, welcome to Folksy As well as the forums you can join the private Folksy Scotland Facebook account if you use FB. There’s also a private group on Instagram if you’re interested in joining, it’s called Folksy Scotland Clubhoose. We post hats, tips, info etc.l Enjoy & I wish you every success
Although I had a go at selling on the ‘other’ big selling site, I still feel like a total newbie in terms of selling online, so I’m going to need all the help I can get at first. Hopefully things will start to pick up if I keep plugging away at it!
Nae rush Craig… take your time to get settled & find your way around the site. All the best and enjoy! BTW, I had a sneaky peek at your shop…your work looks fab!
