This query is not for me but for new sellers as I’ve just seen a new shop selling something for £4.50 each and they have listed 50.
Am I correct in thinking that as a non-plus seller that will immediately cost them 50 * 18p Plus Vat. i,e that the listing fee is not per listing but also per quantity.
I don’t think that that is made clear and if I am correct that seller will get a nasty shock when they get their bill
Yes Joy, that is how I understand it, though isn’t Folksy offering an incentive to new sellers at the moment, so that may cover it? (not too sure about the incentive)
Jayne
It’s 3 free listings … suspect that only covers 3 of the 50…
All the more reason of course to go Plus
It is correct, but it is quite clear though when you add the number of items in stock, as the amount to pay changes accordingly. I just had a go and this is how it appears, so they must know what they are doing…?
I would suspect that they didnt notice as really no reason at all to list 50… why not start with 10 and see how they go. Just thought i would bring it to any new seller’s attention in case they were not aware.
At the moment Folksy is offering the 1 month free trial of the plus account to new shops (if you use the right code) and I’m wondering that if you sign up using that code you get plus account benefits without having to set up the direct debit so no plus badge on your shop. (That way in a months time Folksy won’t have to deal with lots of people going 'but I didn’t want a plus account - how do I cancel?)
If that is what’s going on then this shop might not get the shock until they come to renew the listing when yes it would be 50* 15p (plus VAT)
With the Plus offer they are signing up to the direct debit, it just delays their first payment by a month, so they’ll still show up as Plus.
Yes @JOYSofGLASS you’re right about the pricing, if they’re on basic then it’s per quantity and for an item with a quantity of 50 it would cost £9 to list. This should be clear on the listing page (once when they enter the quantity, and then again when they click list), but if any sellers do accidentally list with a high quantity without realisting, as long as they reduce it to 1 and email us on support, we will remove the fee.
If you notice anyone mention that they’ve had a shocking high fee, please point them our way. We always recommend that sellers on a basic account list in low quantities, but we understand that when moving from Etsy, sometimes they just expect all platforms to behave in the same way.
Thanks Kim. Just thought it was worth pointing out as it was a bit surprising to see such a high initial quantity.
Actually I didn’t realize this either. I am currently plus so it doesn’t matter but if I go back to pay as you go that would have been a bit of a shock if I relisted my multiple listings. So thanks for the information x
