Look - this shop needs their first sale!

You only have two things in your shop, so not surprising you haven’t had a sale, and I’m pretty sure you’re not allowed to advertise your own website on the Forums…

I have knitted CE marked toys safe from birth, toilet roll covers, and mohair one of a kind artist bears ans dogs. They all would make great Christmas presents.

Here’s another shop which is waiting for their first sale. Saw it on another thread - they sell craft supplies so if you are looking to buy some supplies, why not check them out.

These pins looked quite interesting!

Just found this very old thread. I’m still waiting for my first sale on Folksy after about 5 months. The first things I listed have come round for renewal, so I’m paying out with nothing coming in. I havent renewed the last couple that expired. So - have others waited this long or longer to get going, or am I flogging a dead horse and would be better giving up now before I build up even more deficit? Looking at the shops mentioned earlier in this thread, it seems most of those who were struggling to get a first sale then, now no longer exist, which doesnt bode well.
Any thoughts appreciated.

I see no social media links in your Folksy shop. If you are not using social media to promote your shop at the moment, that’s the first thing to try.

You need to add your social media links to your shop (this is done via the shop settings / shop appearance) and promote the heck out of your items on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest etc.

Also join in the daily listing threads on the forum as the back links produced will help you appear in the search engine results (google)

Thats something that always puzzles me! . What facebook (for example) link do people put on their Folksy shop that could help - surely wherever it leads to would then only point the person back to the Folksy shop, where they are already ? I genuinely do not understand.
I do try and post regularly, several times a week if possible ,on numerous facebook groups I have joined, with links either to specific items or to the shop.
I confess I fail at all other social media.
Thank you for your reply and input , it is appreciated.

Thanks Minpin towers too. Yes, did daily listing challenge all through June, didnt do this month as would be nearly all repeats!!
And am regular on tbe forums - and very grateful to all the folksy people who have favourited things as a result.

Yes, adding your links to your Folksy shop can feel like it’s pointing the potential customer away from your shop, but here are my thoughts (disclaimer - I am by no means an expert )

People come to Folksy to buy unique items made by a person. They could just as easily go to one of the big sites and choose a mass produced item, but they have come here to make a purchase from an independent maker. A Facebook page is a chance to give them more of the personal touch, let them get to know more about your business, the person and the reasons behind it. They can’t get that from buying on the mega sites.

I think it’s a bit like Sainsbury’s having a Facebook page or a magazine, they would still do alright without them, but it creates more of a community feel. It’s an extension of your shop.

Someone may just come across your page while browsing on Folksy. Might not want anything at the time and with no social media links, could move on and forget all about you. Get them over to your Facebook page, and you could be popping up every now and then on their newsfeed as a reminder.

Folksy makers are a supportive bunch and great at promoting each other, but without links you could be missing out on that. I choose shops with working FB and IG links each Friday so that I can find them easily and tag them in the posts.

Just a few things to consider. Good luck with your shop, I hope you get a sale soon. xxx

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Perhaps I need to explore setting up a Samazama fb page rather than just my personal one .
