Made on the Borders

I’m looking forward to the ‘Made on the Borders’ homemade festival this Saturday, 26th August, at the British Ironwork Centre near Oswestry, Shropshire. It’s a fantastic and inspirational venue, home to the famous knife angel sculpture. Anyone else here got a stall there? Drop in and say hi if you’re there.

Hi there I was going to attend this event at this marvellous place but have unfortunately had to pull out. I wish you lots of luck and sales there and anyone attending enjoy a stroll around the sculpture park it’s well worth a visit.

Sorry you had to cancel, @CreationsforTinyTots thanks for your good wishes
My creations are similar to items they have on sale in their own shop, hope that doesn’t upset them. It will be interesting to see what other local(ish) makers have on display too.

Of course I will. I have a busy weekend ahead with the Ironworks on Saturday and the Shrewsbury Steam Rally on Sunday and Monday so it may be a little delayed.

Such a shame you couldn’t attend Pauline @CreationsforTinyTots

I am happy to report the ‘Made on the Borders’ homemade festival went really well, both for the organisers and for me on a personal level. There were over a hundred stalls selling pretty much every craft you could think of and the public flocked in and bought. I think the public turnout caught the organisers on the hop - I heard of issues with parking during the day - but otherwise it was a great, well organised event. I didn’t have as much time to look around and network as I’d hoped but my creations went down very well and my own sales exceeded expectations by a long way. Even the rain held off!
I realise that fairs and markets are not everybody’s cup of tea but if you’re on the fence, get out there and give one a try. Downsides? It’s a lot of work - and, as I write this at 5:30am, I’m about to get ready to go and do it again at he Shrewsbury Steam Rally.

It sounds like that went very well Mick, it’s good to hear because there’s such a lot of hard work goes into your stall even before the ‘big day’. Best of luck today at Shrewsbury!

Yes, thanks @plumporridge , it did go well as did the steam rally in Shrewsbury. Apologies for my delayed reply, this week is frantic - trying to replenish my stock of creations for the next show.
